Intro:
Today, we get together to celebrate the beauty of Jesus Christ's death, resurrection, and ascension. These things are the most important things that happened during His time on earth and are the basis of our faith asw Christ Followers. Through His death, Jesus saved us from our sins. Through His resurrection, He defeated death. Through His ascension, He sat down at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, where He rules and prays for us.
The beauty of Jesus Christ's death, resurrection, and ascension is shown in the Bible, which also tell us what these events mean. Here’s what I mean!
Romans 5:8 NLT
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
First, the beauty of Jesus Christ's death. Paul writes in Romans 5:8, "But God shows how much he loves us by the fact that Christ died for us while we were still sinners." The death of Jesus on the cross shows how much God loves us. He willingly gave His life as a sacrifice for our sins so that we could be forgiven and get back on good terms with God.
John 10:18 NKJV
18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
Jesus' death is also proof that He did what the Father told Him to do. Jesus says in John 10:18, "No one takes it [my life] from me; I lay it down of my own accord. I have the power to lay it down and the power to take it back up again. This command came from my Father." Jesus' death was not an accident or a mistake; it was part of God's plan to save you and me!
The fact that Jesus died has real effects on our lives as well. It helps us remember how bad our sin is and how much God loves us.
Galatians 2:20 NKJV
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Paul says in Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." The death of Jesus calls us to die to our old selves and live a new life in Him.
Second, Let’s talk about the Resurrection
Romans 1:4 NLT
4 and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus Christ's resurrection is the most important proof that He is the Son of God and the Messiah. The resurrection is God's confirmation of Jesus' claims to be the Savior of the world and the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies.
Our faith is also built on the fact that Jesus rose from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:17 NLT
17 And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins.
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:17, "And if Jesus has not been raised, my faith and your faith is useless; you are still in your sins." The resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith in the Gospel and our hope for eternal life.
We need to know this - The fact that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead can help us in many ways. We have hope because of the resurrection. As Christ Followers , we believe that Jesus defeated death and that we, too, will be raised to live forever.
John 11:25–26 NKJV
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
Jesus said, Whoever believes in me will live, even if they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die." The resurrection gives us hope that death is not the end and that we will one day be reunited with our loved ones who have died.
The resurrection gives us strength - He is the risen Christ!
Ephesians 1:19–20 NCV
19 And you will know that God’s power is very great for us who believe. That power is the same as the great strength 20 God used to raise Christ from the dead and put him at his right side in the heavenly world.
God’s great power is for those of us who believe. That power is the same as the great strength he used to raise Jesus from the dead." As Christ Followers, as believers, we have access to the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. This power gives us the strength to fight against sin and live in a way that makes God happy.
Man, listen, The resurrection tells us why you and I are here.
Philippians 3:10–11 NLT
10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!
I am here and you are here , to know the power of his resurrection and to share in his sufferings, becoming like him! The resurrection gives us a reason to live a life that pleases God - The resurrection gives us a reason to be changed into the image of Jesus!
Now, I am sure of some things - others doubt!
The resurrection gives me assurance , the resurrection gives you assurance that we have been born again into a living hope and that we have an inheritance that will never perish, spoil, or fade.
I am happy about the resurrection.
John 16:22 NKJV
22 Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
He told the disciples - Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again, and you will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away." The resurrection gives me and you a joy that cannot be taken away by the things that happen in this world.
Jesus Came Back to Life
1 Corinthians 15:20–22 NLT
20 But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died. 21 So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. 22 Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life.
How beautiful it is that Jesus Christ came back to life. The resurrection of Jesus is the most important part of our faith. What happened in this event proves that everything else Jesus said and did was true. This is why You and we believe we will live forever.
1 Corinthians 15:55–57 NCV
55 “Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your pain?” 56 Death’s power to hurt is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But we thank God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul tells us in the scripture we have the victory over death now! "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thank you God! Jesus Gave Us The Victory!
The fact that Jesus rose from the dead also has real effects on our lives today. Now we have hope that this thing called death is not the end, Now we have hope and that one day we will be raised to live forever.
Philippians 3:20–21 NLT
20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
Our home is in heaven, and we wait for a savior - Our Lord Jesus Christ, who will change these weak bodies with the power that rules over everything. We will have a body as beautiful as his one day! Listen, if you are dealing with trouble and strife in your life - today , This hope helps us get through the hard times in this life, because we know that our ultimate goal is to spend eternity with Christ.
The third thing I want to direct you to is the Beauty of the Ascension
Acts 1:9–11 NLT
9 After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. 10 As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
The book of Acts says - he was taken up right in front of them, and a cloud covered him. They were looking up into the sky as he went, and then two men in white stood next to them and asked, "Men of Galilee, why are you standing here looking up into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back the same way you saw him go into heaven." He is at the Father's right hand, where He prays for us and gives us power through the Holy Spirit.
The fact that Jesus went to heaven also has real effects on our lives. It helps us remember that we are not alone on our faith journey. Jesus has gone ahead of us and made a path for us to follow.
Hebrews 4:14–16 NLT
14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
We have a great high priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus! So we can Hold on, We can Hold on to our faith! Why? - because Jesus understands the challenges we face!, Jesus understands our weaknesses, Jesus understands the pain we face , Jesus understands when we go through storms, Jesus understands when we fall short, Jesus understands the turmoil we go through in our minds and spirits, Jesus understands when we've been hurt! Jesus understands when we have been disappointed, Jesus understands! If no one understands what you are going through, Jesus understands! He has been tempted in every way, just as we are being tempted, but he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help!
In the end, the beauty of Jesus Christ's death, resurrection, and ascension shows us how much God loves, forgives, and cares for us. These things didn't just happen in the past; they also have real effects on our lives now. They remind us of how bad our sin is, how much God loves us, and how Jesus Christ gives us the hope of eternal life. As we celebrate today stay true to your faith and live your life in the beauty of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ's death, resurrection, and ascension.
May God bless you and may God Keep you is my Prayer!
