Title: All Hail the King!
Text: John 12:12-19
Series: Palm Sunday
Introduction:
Hail – acclaim enthusiastically as being a specified thing
April 11 – June 1, 2022, Depth v. Heard (fans on court arrival)
The unsuspecting crowd in A.D. 30 was unaware of the court proceedings that would take place within a week, but they were enthusiastic about this King Jesus.
Need Today:
We are really living in a “Hail Me” time in the west.

I. The Scriptural King (John 12:13-15)

a. the Saving King (13)Hosanna (save, we pray/now) (transliteration ill: amin in Albanian)
i. Jesus – name Jehovah is salvation

b. the Sojourning King (13)Blessed is He who comes

II. The Sacrificial King (John 12:16)

a. this event is preparatory for the Cross (a voluntary act of the Son)
i. the [Cross] distinction of the salvation this King was bringing
ii. the deliverance from sin – Lamb of God takes away sin of the world (John 1:29)
what is sin in John? it is the refusal of the King whom the Father has sent.
what is deliverance in John? it is the reception of the King whom the Father has sent.
b. this event is blurry (16) – when Jesus was glorified.

i. the deliverance through death (John 12:23-24) if it dies brings forth much fruit
Ill: Sam’s self-sacrificing pursuit of Frodo’s body, makes you love Sam.

i. The sacrifice of Jesus is incomparable to that of any other person in human history. To receive is to believe.
ii. To reflect, you must wear the lens of Christ.

III. The Separating King (John 12:17-19)

a. the sign-following crowd (17-18) – they heard he’d done this sign
b. the scandalized Pharisees (19) – the whole world has gone after him
c. the seekers who were uncommon (20) – We would see Jesus!
