I noticed that first Kings, 19 verse 9, kind of starts before the heading in the bench, Bible page, 285 page, 285 in the bench Bible.

So just one line above the heading on the right hand side. Speaking of Elijah, they're Elijah. He went into a cave and spend the night. Elijah's down and discouraged hungry and weak. He been on the Mountaintop where God had done a miracle and now he's down in the valley. Isn't it easy to be overwhelmed, friends? And the word of the Lord came to him. What are you doing here, Elijah? He replied, I have been very zealous for the Lord. God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected, your Covenant. Torn down your altars. We could almost put that in today's words. People no longer honor the Bible. Please turn down your altars. The church isn't recognized or respected like it was the Bible churches. And they put your profits to death with the sword. This week, some little innocent children.

In Tennessee, a church school were gunned down and killed. And you lied, you saying they put your profits to death with the sword, so I'm the only one left. And now they're trying to kill me to. The Lord said. Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.

Could we posit Elijah's in the state where he sang Pass Me. Not O Gentle Saviour. Hear my humble cry. So he wanted to be there when the Lord passes by he doesn't want to be passed by. He knows, he needed the Lord. He's broke. Did it rain and Powerful, wind tore, the mountains, apart, and shattered the Rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the Wind. After the wind there was an earthquake but the Lord was not in the earthquake.

So here you still waiting. After the earthquake, fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came, a gentle whisper some versions read. A still Small Voice, a gentle whisper to hear the word gentle.

I just can't help but read resist, but to say that.

That's where the Lord really wants to do. Something is in your heart and mind when we're open to his gentle whisper. Really availing ourselves to to hear him to draw close to him? The world would look at the lightning and the earthquakes and all of that. And it and we know the Lord's, got a purpose and he's in those things but where he really wants this? Is where we're sensitive and tender, I can hear him speak to her heart. His truth, a gentle whisper. When you lied to hurt it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him. What are you doing here Elijah he replied. I have been very zealous for the Lord. God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected, your Covenant, torn down your altars and put your profits to death with the sword. I am the only one left and now they are trying to kill me to The Lord said to him, go back the way you came and go to the desert of Damascus. So deep in Elijah's heart. He realizes, I'm not alone to Lord's. Got a hold of people in the Lord's being activities. Giving me a new purpose. He's refreshed my soul. But Elijah, Elijah desk. Use Me shows. How old are wild? We can be by the world around us. He was so overwhelmed. By the evil in the wrong, that was occurring around him that he was deeply deeply. Broken and discouraged and felt defeated. There are things going around going on in our world today that can overwhelm us.

The recent headlines spoke close to what I'm about to tell you. It said, Americans frightened at results of recent poll. And the poll shows that since the turn of the century, the last 25 years, those thinking church is important. Has gone from 2/3 of people down to 1/3

Those who thought at the turn of the century, that patriotism was very important, have gone from 2/3 to 1/3. And we're aware. That sometimes. Just because we believe.

With loving hearts for all people. But because of what we believe and hold to for Christ. We are becoming more and more hated.

I'm just so grateful to the Lord for how he leads us and our leaders. Because at this point in my sharing, as I prayed, and sought the Lord this week, either, I wanted to say this but you said it better than I can.

Did the Hebrew people in Egypt? How to put the Passover blood on their door post? And they were protected, do you know that little lamb that gave his blood for to protect him? That it is. Slammed the pointed to Jesus is an example of what was to come actually lived with the family before it was put to death. Children would have it as a pet, but they knew that the Beloved animal has shut its blood to protect them. And while the death angel came, There was howling and wailing and every household of the Egyptians that they lost their first born, but they're in the Hebrews homes.

Not a dog bark. So we are protected by the blood on the doorposts that door post that made us at entrance to heaven and Jesus that I'm the door and he's the one, the lamb that shed his blood for you and me and in this world we will we are being taken care of. God has delivered you and me from our past from so many problems. He's the God, doesn't deliver this very day. Strengthening Us. In meeting our every need and God will deliver us in the future.

But Lord, I feel like Elijah.

I'm the only one who by the way, Jezebel heard that he lied. You had put some of her profits to death and she threatened him. She said I'm going to kill him by tomorrow. And that fear entered into his heart at overwhelmed and can't fear. Do that to you and me, what do we do? When were overwhelmed in this world, what can we do? Well, Look What the Lord Has Done. Elijah, just broke. But the word of the Lord came to Elijah. God came to him in his Brokenness and in his need. And so, the first thing on my heart to share, Is this? God's word. Cuts through.

Every. Depression. Pressure and threat that comes to you and me wherever it is. Wherever it's from Wally Macaulay, shared that when he was going into a heart surgery. That Only by God's grace, he would survive, which was a very, very complicated surgery as he was being put out, he was reciting Psalms 23, the surgery took place and he said his first waking thought would he just finished Psalm 23 God's word came to him in his time of need. In the word of the Lord comes to us and it cuts through all of those things that oppress us. To deliver us and do assure, our hearts that we're his, and to meet our deepest need and longing. The Bible says the word of God. It's the Bible friends but it's God's word. The word of God is living and Powerful is God's life to us. The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. And divides, the sundered Soul and Spirit in joints, and Marrow and discerns, and understand the thoughts and intents Chance of the heart. In other words, God is thorough and cutting right to the heart of you and me, and making Loose Ends.

Of all those trappings. They keep us down. She makes Loose Ends of them. Remember the toy Gumby? and, Some car, lots have, what kind of like an inflatable giant Gumby? And she some of you shaking in the arms and it's all going like that. Well, whatever it is that would oppress you and me and Just burden. I should wrap us up in fear and discouragement and despair of God's word Cuts right through those arms. And there they are flapping in the wind and the enemy defeated and he didn't get too wrapped up in himself and his all of his tentacles and his reach and is completely deflated. By the way, God just breathe his power in the spirit into your heart. When we come like Elijah and say, Lord, I need your word. I need to hear from you.

I just want to make sure I'm being clear friends.

Whatever it is, that's got you wrapped up. There is a place for you near to the heart of God, where none of those things can molest, you any longer.

because God, Love you. And he'll be there at his word will come to you and slice through all of that oppression and all of those wrappings. Making Loose Ends of them. Number two.

To reach down to the deepest Road.

And he'll address.

The most fervent longing and heartache and need of our heart.

When he lied you just prior to the his exhaustion, both spiritual and physical.

When he was on Mount Carmel. He had taunted the Baal Prophets. He said, let's have a duel essentially. I was are my words and whoever is god, let's ask God to burn down our sacrifice, you go first. And so they built a sacrifice. An altar to bail. The false, god, they cut themselves in Earnest. They, waled Elijah mocked him and said, maybe he's off to the bathroom or he's asleep.

Well, nothing happened. They were defeated. And so Elijah had the alter built from the Lord and a trench was built around the altar. He said filled four water jars, large ones with water and dump it all over the sacrifice, the sacrifice has been placed the stones were there. He said don't put all over and so the four large jars of water when I tap on the sacrifice and ran down into the trench, and then he said, do it again. So, there were four more large jars of water spread all over the sacrifice, but trench was filling the boat and he said, do it again in four more jars of water large jars report on the sacrifice. And then Elijah prayed and said, oh Lord if you're the god of Israel show us. Now, come down and consume this sacrifice. Fire Came From Heaven linked up, with its Flames. The sacrifice at the altar licked up. This is Donald's.

And even the soil underneath the sacrifice. He got that deep and then he turned to Elijah in the wilderness famished and indeed, and he got deep again and he reached down into the roots of his soul and loved him and supplied what he needed and cared for him, with a gentle, small voice,

Do you know, the Lord knows what you need in your life, knows what you're going through. Maybe you've heard reports that sound like an earthquake or or A Mighty Wind or the rocks are crushing and nothing's working at. And she's just waiting for you to come to him so that he can get down into the roots of your heart down, deep with a still small and old voice of assurance and Talia I've got you. Then I've got this. In that still small voice.

He wants to come to You and Me Gently.

But when God sent Jonah.

Turn it over.

Jonah came to Nineveh with nothing but a message, you must repent. he saw the Lord in this day and age in which were living is bringing things to Bear Upon Our Lives where we must turn to him deeply because he, that hardens his neck.

Will suddenly be destroyed. With no remedy.

Draw Me Close Lord.

His word will slice through.

All that has oppressed. He will get to the car, the deepest, part of our big. The Lord doesn't put catch up on stuff.

He gets right. If we have to have ketchup sometimes it's cuz of the foods lacking. Sometimes there's a few things I like, ketchup with no matter what, but sometimes I just need something. Where's the catch up? Where can I get doesn't cover up? He goes back to the basic ingredients. He gets down to the roads, get down to the the paste. Of our soul. And he gives us of himself. He gets to the road. So finally friends number three, the Lord. As he comes deep within our heart, like he did to it, like it was that still Small Voice. God needs our deepest longing, and he has you, and I seek Him will put something in our heart from his word, from his love, and from the Holy Spirit, ministers the word to us, something that will just be the key that unlocks. It all the tenderness of the Lord, the goodness of the Lord, whatever it is. We need, you know what, Elijah needed to hear that. He wasn't alone.

You're not alone. The Humvee soldier in Afghanistan, had been rattled. Severely injured by the roadside bomb, he was thrown out of the machine. He was dying. There was Smoke everywhere. He thought he was dying. There was one prevailing need that he had more than anything. He was crying out. That this need would be answered and it was this. Did they leave me? Did they first make me? He wanted his fellow Soldiers with him right then. And right there, God knows your deepest need

He says, you're not alone.

He told Elijah have 7,000, that weren't that haven't bailed, the knee to Baal. You're not the only one and Elijah came through the list. So well and he endured so much and the Lord, so took care of him. Do you realize that just in prior to the cross of Jesus was on the Mount of transfiguration, do you know who came and ministered to Jesus?

and Elijah could say, I know, I know what it's like for you. And Jesus was there and experiencing the ministry of Elijah. Who'd been through this, and Moses was there as well. And the three of them is loved each other. On the Mount of transfiguration is Jesus, became brilliant, white, and God even met the need of his own son as he was about to go to the Cross. He could look at the Elijah and safe. I know I'm not alone. I know my father's with me sending these ones to love and care for me. Kim was visiting with her friends. How wonderful her life was, how the Lord was so good to her. She had a new grandbaby, she and her husband and family were so happy. She was comfortable with her home. Her life was going wonderful and didn't days. She got the report that she had leukemia so she chose right then and there to do what he likes you did she went to the Lord and she said to him the need of her heart and said, Lord I just want you to be with me to take me through this and be glorified. And so Kim went through that experience trusting Jesus and she called it a time of forced leisure. When she began to know that every need in her life was taken care of by God's grace and love for her.

that when you have a listening welcoming heart in your time of Brokenness, God will cut through all the entanglements, all the trappings of fear and doubt, and worry.

And heavy heartedness. And he will come to the root of your being and soul and address the deepest parts of your being and he will supply your every need friends. This is what Elijah did in a world that had gone bad. This is what the Lord will do for us. Shall we pray?

Lord, we have Miracles and we have sufficiency and we have answers for everything that we need when we have you. The father may we come to you and drink from your.
