We are going to be talking today about what they write the triumphant ride into Jerusalem and the waving of the palm branches is just very reflective of what the Crown's did that day, right? And today, we are going to one of the passages in the gospels. That tells of a story, the triumphant entry into Jerusalem. It's going to be from Matthew chapter 21, and he'll read it in a few moments. But I first want to set some of the contacts. We get started today. You're just as were waving these, these palm branches and through such significant such symbolism as well today. But the first start off with a significant Jesus rode into where we all know the answer to that, right? We rode into Jerusalem. This wasn't just any ordinary town, right? It was not here to send me. It was not in your hometown, unless you were from Jerusalem today, but he rode into Jerusalem. If I want to start off with this city is a very significant as we start Holy Week and what a wonderful amazing week it is. You know, for me personally, I definitely look forward to Easter when I was young and, and I, we would get new outfits for Easter symbolizing the newness of Life. Amen. In Jesus Christ, but I didn't understand And the whole load of Holy Week. Later in life and now he's gone. She ate this week and what it symbolizes as we lead into Easter and then and so today, as we reflect, and we remember that Jesus was with his disciples and he was preparing to walk into this city of Drew. And he knows he knew that it was just a few days, so you knew what was going to take place. So here we are Palm Sunday and Jerusalem. That's not any. Any ordinary town but he is making an incredible statement. Was he not as he was riding into Jerusalem? And as he was with his disciples when he getting ready, he was on the Mount of Olives.

But David I know he is the Son of God. Amen. And he knows all and I was reflecting as I was reading the text today that he was there and Beth a Mount of Olives. Could he be could he have been mine for that one day? He's going to stand. And I would like to just read and start off with that this morning that garage after 9 and if you won't find it on the screen, but this is what one day we have to look forward to. And then we are reflecting on Palm Sunday, but you also look forward to the one day and that's perhaps Jesus was thinking of all of these things at the same time but it says on that day his feet and stand on the Mount of Olives Easter Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives will split apart making a wide Valley running from east to west across. The mountain will move through the North and South Jesus is coming again. One day. He is going to rain on this Earth, and what a day will be.

so, this city

Great significance. And Jerusalem, I just learned recently that if you look at the Jerusalem and we do have a map that you can see on the screen momentarily and on this map, Like is a sidewalk sideways 3. That sideways 3 is actually a Hebrew letter in the Hebrew letter Shin, it is very significant, I hear the geography of Jerusalem, there are three valleys outside this letter. Shin was a steak, is a secret letter for the Jews. It's a secret letter for a very significant reason. It is the first letter of the word that the first letter of the word shadaj, which means God Almighty. I want to read Genesis we get started here. Genesis 17 verse one. It says, when he was 99 years old the Lord appeared to him and said, I am El Shaddai. God Almighty serve me faithfully and live.

Isn't that interesting because this visual that we can have at the city of Jerusalem, has the letter Shin, it is the first letter of the name of God. Had I been, in fact this is also has the letter Shin on and 6 pics. It says I have chosen Jerusalem for my name. That interested? No. Did God do this literally figuratively men? No accident there, right. Can you put like a monogram his his letter?

Jesus is preparing at the Mount of Olives, with his disciples to go down the street of Jerusalem. Amen, we can smell a little bit in pieces, don't lie. Get to know, not. Awesome little pieces. Do we get to know on this side of heaven? But one day we will get to know the rest of us. Don't want to highlight.

Ended. And when I think of the monogram over Jerusalem, it's kind of like Jesus is saying, this is mine, and this is mine. Today we're going to celebrate

And do you know, it says in Matthew 21 got this whole city was being stirred whole city. Any surprise that Jesus? I think. There is a stirring I believe around the whole world. Today, there is a stirring taking place in cash. You know, it first 10, we're going to highlight and where start? What time is it? Where we're going to be reading today? But it raises a question that I'd like to use as the question that was asked, then and may the Lord be asking each of us today. It says there's 10 of Matthew 21 when he had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred. And what were they saying? Who is this? Who is this? And that is a

Is a great question. In fact, have you been stirred to ask?

Yes, this is getting the attention of the city. That is, it is coming in. Who is this will? Today we're going to go through with this question and then draw through this text and take a little paragraph here at this time and see what we can learn about. This is who is You want the great questions to ask people, have you asked somebody else and be able to pull it out.

You may know this story inside out, what we're going to read in this text, but I'm asking, is that you also ask the Holy Spirit to give you a fresh set of spiritual eyes. Of how you can even be changed even more you know that each of us can be changed every day still no matter how long we've known Jesus day. So that very last breath we take and so, would you join with me?

Well, I'd like to start off and we're going to read the first three verses of chapter 21 and then we're going to drop off and then share a little bit and we'll go back into the text. so asking the question,

Susan, what can we learn from these few verses that can smell us? Jesus is. One. I'd like to just highlight some of the things that we just read that Jesus was with, who he was with his disciples. He was with, these disciples have been on a journey with Jesus. Now about 3 years, and they knew each other, well, they spend time together and hear Jesus with his disciples before he enters into the City. And he's given these instructions descends to out which is familiar territory, isn't? They were familiar with that, right? Go out in two and he said, what they were going to find told them what to say and it was exactly the way. will a few things that I would, I draw, but it caught my eye as I was reading through this is that one number one, Jesus has a relationship with And I thank God for Jesus is not just somebody out there that was just telling somebody what to do but it's somebody that desires our relationship and he desires a relationship with you and he desires a relationship with me and it has a personal relationship so that should help to me that Jesus established a relationship with these disciples. It also stood out that these disciples, they did know Jesus and they trusted Jesus and Jesus had proved himself to be true. They knew that what he says is going to be true. So cheese. Have you found him trustworthy? You found him faithful. Have you found him true to his word?

And so Jesus is showing himself in The Obedience of the disciples as they are taking steps to fade.

See, Jesus, he knows all he's the son of God. Jesus Jesus does give us a heads up on, what is coming and he invites us to be part of it. So Jesus, we know that he was intimate relationship with these disciples. He knew what to the disciples knew what to expect and they are responsive to Jesus. And I thought those are free things for us to pick up on as we answer the question.

I recognize you, Jesus. You know, what is coming and you want a relationship?

You know, he's always working out of land weather.

and his disciples, didn't know exactly what all was coming, but they

Jesus.

Let's walk a little bit further in the taxes. Go to versus four and five because now it's referencing. Okay, Jesus, it's shared with his disciples what to do, Jesus knew what was coming and he was letting the disciples in on it, you know? It was all said in the Old Testament, as well. and then it says, in verse for verse, for this took place to fulfill what was spoken through This is what it says, in the Old Testament, say to the daughter of Zion behold, your king is coming to you Gentle and mounted on a donkey even on a coat.

And that is from Zechariah 9. Verse 9. Zechariah 9:9, says Rejoice greatly o daughter of Jerusalem. Behold, your king is coming to you and endowed with salvation, humble and mounted on a donkey, even on a cold. The whole Is that tell you a little bit about Jesus? Fulfilled prophecy?

We recognized in the Old Testament, as well as a new testament, that Jesus is the King, Jesus is the king. And Jesus is.

Isn't it wonderful that In this passage Jesus is inviting his disciples to be part of what? Jesus is inviting you to be Park.

Here. And he invites us to participate in what? Wherever we go, he is inviting us.

And as we leaned into him, as we read his word, we get to know more

So Jesus, he is a King. Jesus is humble versus six and seven. Let's look at that. And see who is this? Who is Jesus? First successful. The disciples went in did just as Jesus had instructed them and brought the donkey and the cold and Laser.

So again, disciples are being obedient. They brought the Colt to Jesus and hear they're putting the codes on on the folder, on the Stone Key.

And they are giving God giving Jesus is the son of God. You know, when we are obedient we are giving him honor so when Dad is asking us to do something, this is what can we do for him when he has to do something as we are, obedient

That is reviewing Jesus to others as others. See are obedient as well. The disciples over those three years they were in process known. As I said earlier we to be in the constant process of transformation and no answer. Who is this disease is. Another way I can say is Jesus

Jesus one who's changed. Jesus is.

So here we see a little bit from the disciples and what they were doing as they all were preparing to go into Jerusalem. Now, we're going to look at the next few verses which actually has to do with the crowd and how they respond, and go ahead and take a look at most of the crowd and others were cutting branches. And spreading them. Pause right there. This was culturally very appropriate.

I want to be. Recognized and back to her or palm branches. If you want to get ahold of those again. The palm branches will often use. It's freaking day when King David recognized as victory. So, when we wave our fallen branches, we are symbolizing honor to celebrate who they were to honor them gives honor. That is due them. So we have Victory Inn. so, it's a

he is the king of He is the king of things and may he be the king of your heart and the king of my heart will the palm branches. They also represent Jesus being worthy as the high priest Jesus being worthy as high priest. You know, how long is it good for the question? I didn't know the answer to this but you know how long the palm tree takes to bear fruit? I've been told her to hear she was a correct. 30 years is what I was told a palm tree. Takes 30 years to bear fruit and a parallel. Is that a man could not become a high priest?

In the palm branches, there's another meaning, another symbol with a palm branches, besides, being king-size, being high priest. Other thing that was laid down for what?

And once again, this was done is an act of honor. It was a technology payment and a declaration that Jesus was the King of Kings, the promised Messiah. So both the palm branches and the garments were very significant in declaring hoochie. Men. And I actually had a little trouble finding this after I moved, but I found it this morning and this is a, what is called Al it is a prayer shawl and a friend of mine went to Jerusalem and brought this back and I'm so grateful for it. Oh, Jesus.

Garment or float. Is referencing a seamless garment with four corners with a tassel attached to each of the four corners that remind a Jewish. People of all the commands of God, Upon its color. And if you can't be probably where you are, but upon its collar, the Hebrew letter Hebrew letters, spell, Lord of lords, and King of Kings, Lord, of lords, and King of Kings. As a symbolic, reminder of the promised Messiah. So, by laying there to least down the people were acknowledging, Jesus, as the Son of God as the Messiah, a lay them down for me.

That's what was taking place against some men hard for them. Sure, they didn't know in full but as they were putting down there to leak down the palm branches, they are wearing shoes. Jesus is the high priest Jesus.

And I would like this for us even today we don't we are not walking the streets of Jerusalem today. But you know what cheese is invites us to lay down our lives. And say Jesus, I give you my life. Jesus. I'm yours. You are worthy. You are my high priest.

And he welcomes back.

So,

Well, the crowd they not only were laying down the palm branches and the tallit, but they were saying something in first nine. It says, they were shouting out. The crowds going ahead of him and those who followed were shouting, Montana to the son of David, blasted name of the Lord hosanna in the highest actually from Psalm 118 verse 25 and 26. Highway. Morning, Psalm 118 verses 25 and 26. Please learn again, depending on what vergere translation, you use, but this one says please Lord, please save us please Lord, please give us. Accept less, the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord. I get an agreement. The scriptures always in agreement. What is in the old is fulfilled in the new amen? And hear Jesus is coming down and they're speaking out there. Scouting out.

Famous Amos. Many of them were thinking more in the Physical Realm that they wanted to be safe from the road.

He wanted to do even better. And that is just seeing them spiritual. From the penalty of sin.

When we ask ourselves, do we know that they know that we know.

And if you don't know who Jesus is personally, why not today makes it into that relationship to say yes to him who he is and what he has gone and the recognized if you did that. We can enter them into that personal relationship.
