We live in a world that I believe we’d be safe to define a wholly broken
Just watch the news “breaking news”
Violence
Depression
anxiety
terrible events
Just feels off
Jesus frames all of this brokenness into it’s proper perspective in John 10:10 “10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The Cause of problems
The thief- Satan- the tempter
The Devil & Mans Sin has robbed and rocked this world
Deaths has reigned
Romans 5:14
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
Eph 6:12
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The Cure for the problem
We must also remember the ultimate reason for a word of hope. I’m grateful that John 10:10 has such balance. Jesus said, “The thief [comes] not … to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and … have it … abundantly.” (John 10:10) Our Savior is not the author of death but of life.
Where sin just brings death and takes Jesus gives!
Where religion takes Jesus brings life!
John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Ro 6 23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
His crucifixion and resurrection bring life and life abundantly!
The life that that thieve took Jesus restores!
Joel 2:25
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, The cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, My great army which I sent among you.
The thief takes but Jesus gives!
Live in this abundant life!
