The New International Version Chapter 28
He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
“He got up so that you can get up”
Text: Matthew 28:6
Introduction: The death, resurrection, and exaltation of Jesus Christ are the most important events in history and they are the foundation of the Christian faith. After being placed in a borrowed tomb, three days later Jesus arises from the grave according to the scriptures. John Rice says, the resurrection of Jesus was part of the plan of salvation and redemption by atonement for man’s sin. There can be no question about the validity, significance nor reality of what happened on that first Easter morning. We serve a Christ that epitomizes the essence of what life eternal will be like. Yes the resurrection signifies life beyond the tomb. Often times when God makes mind- boggling new beginnings, there are no human eyes nor ears present to witness the event. This is also true for the new beginning marked by Jesus’s miraculous rising from the grave. No human eye saw it actually happen so all that you and I can do is accept the account as being valid based on the Word of God. Two things about the resurrection that are essential is the focus of our message today.
Easter must be believed to be recieved
All who believe in their hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead will be saved. (Rom. 10:9)
Easter is the evidence that death will not be able to hold down believers because it could not hold Jesus down.
Easter baffles human intellect
It trips up the mind
It staggers the imagination
It goes against the grain of the human brain.
It contradicts the laws of nature.
The resurrection defies all we have ever seen or known. Isn’t that the whole point of Easter! How else could Easter be good news for a fallen, sinful, grave- filled world,” What would there be to celebrate for the Christian if there was no Easter.? Can you imagine life without Easter?
Closure: I thank God for Easter and all that it means to your and my salvation. Lets re- enact the scene, three days ago, He was arrested in the Garden, transferred fro hall to hall and tried in unjust courts, whipped until his flesh cut into pieces, convicted and condemned, they put a cross on His shoulder and He march up to Calvary, where the dropped the cross in hole six feet deep, He died, I said He died Y’all
