Deciding About Christ

Luke 23:1-25

It is our day in court.

Vs. 1-5

a. Jesus was arrested, accused and gave His answer.

Luke 23:3 ESV

3 And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.”

b. Jesus stirs the people. The truth will always stir the people!

Matthew 4:23 ESV

23 And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.

Questioning of Herod

Vs. 6-17

a. Herod wanted to see a “Sign”

b. Jesus did not speak

c. Herod and court Mocked Jesus

Luke 18:32 ESV

32 For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon.

Matthew 27:28 ESV

28 And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,

The Choice

Vs. 18-25

a. The Crowd did not choose Jesus

Later on the cross we hear the testimony of a thief about Jesus.

Luke 23:41 ESV

41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.”

b. Pilate gave Jesus to the people

Who was/is Responsible for the Death of JESUS?

Isaiah 53:5–6 ESV

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

The RESURRECTION
