Proverbs 24:21

My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
Outside of the preaching service here tonight you will be hard pressed to find a church anywhere that is open much less having preaching.
Some are having communion.
Some are burning candles.
Most are just closed.
(Read again Proverbs 24:21 and note the phrase, “…meddle not with them that are given to change.”)
Who are “them” and what do they want to change?

I. “Them” are Pastors and People in churches.

Pastors that are Bible correctors.
They correct God’s Word with education.
Example - The Greek says or the originals say
They correct God’s Word with enlightenment.
Example - Having visions and dreams
They correct God’s Word with enlistment.
Example - Dropping doctrine to gather people
People that are rebels.
They rebel with these rebellious pastors.
1 Samuel 15:23 KJV
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Note - What was the leader rebellious against? The Word of the LORD. So rebellion, idolatry, and witchcraft all live together with rejecting God’s Book, in particular they are not seeking the “old paths” of Jeremiah 6:16
They rebel because they are rebellious.
Deuteronomy 31:27 KJV
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?
They would rebel toward where they are at if crossed by leadership there.
Ezra 4:19 KJV
And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
Note - Even with a worldly ruler in place rebellion was there

This way is newer and better - Lie #8
It is neither new nor better.

Conclusion:

[Read]
Proverbs 24:22 KJV
22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
“their calamity shall rise suddenly”
Jeremiah 28:15–17
15 Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.
16 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die,
-->because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD.<--
17 So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
