Make it as Sure as You Can
Make it as Sure as you Can
Matthew 27:62, 28:6
(Psalm 2:1-5) Why do the nations of this world continually return to a course of action which they can never hope to accomplish? We’ve seen it throughout history where people rise up and say, “Let’s put away this Christ and seal up the testimony of the living God. Let’s guard it. Let’s get it out of our schools, drive it out of the marketplace, let’s silence it on our holidays, let’s eradicate it from government and the home. Let’s put away this Christ again. Let’s put Him in a tomb and let’s seal it and make it as sure as we can!
I. God Laughs at Man’s Pride:
a. But the Bible says, “He who sits in the heavens shall laugh and hold them in derision.” Matthew 27:62-64 tells us they considered the Lord Jesus Christ a deception and they felt society was better served by keeping Him securely locked away from all public consideration. We in this nation are attempting to do the same thing others throughout history have done. We’re attempting to lock Christ away from our children, away from the public sphere, away from sports, away from everywhere possible.
b. But “He Who sits in the heavens shall laugh and hold you in derision!” That means God Almighty will make sport of you trying to do what cannot be done! You cannot come against God! He has no adversary! You can pretend that you have, and declare you have, and set a seal and guard it, but “He Who sits in the heavens shall laugh!” (Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 1:20-21) Nothing can take authority over Christ.
c. (Psalm 2:5) There comes a time God when God says enough is enough! Enough of man pretending to be God. I’m going to show you Who the Great I AM is. You think you lock Me away. You think you can roll a stone in front of the testimony of My Son! You think you can seal Him up and set a guard and I’m going to just sit back and let you do it!
d. (Esther 3:12-16) God responds to the prayers of His people. There’s never been an awakening, God has never moved His hand throughout history on a national scale without somebody laying hold of Him in prayer. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
e. (Matthew 28:1-6) The guards represented their kingdom. But the angel represented the One Who sits in the heavens and laughs at the attempts of men to eradicate His Name. And the Angel told the women to come see the place where death was defeated! Come see the place of resurrection power!
II. Jesus is Alive:
a. (Revelation 1:17-18) Jesus is alive today. The only proof you need is to experience what He will do in your heart and life when you come to Him and make Him Lord and Savior. The devil is trying to tell you that “I have you sealed. I’ve rolled a stone over your mind, over your life over your hope, over your children, your future, your heart, I’ve sealed it up and made it sure as I can!”
b. But if you move towards the promise of God that He made to you through His Son, Jesus, then your testimony, I promise you, your testimony will be, “Come and see where death was defeated and my life began! Come see where death used to be, it’s no longer there!”
