tell about hope - the things that gets us up, the promise of another day, the core that keeps us going- it is hope and without hope we wander aimlessly striving to have a life of meaning - some have placed their hope in all kinds of things - jobs, people, money - jobs go away, people will let you down, and money is fleeting.
But there is hope that lasts for eternity. Hope found not in something you can have done but something God has done for you.
All of us are on a journey of hope, we all long to have something to hope for, something in our lives that completes us, and unifies us, something that sets us apart.
Hope is not found in any “thing” hope is found in one person - and His name is Jesus.
hope is not having the “perfect life”
Jesus shows us that life is not perfect - He was lied about, betrayed, gossiped about, found no place to lay His head, was hated by the religious, and loved by the outcasts. Jesus came to his own people and they rejected Him.
Jesus fed multitudes of people with a few fish and bread, Jesus healed the lame, the blind, the death, demonically tormented, the outcast, the lepers, He Healed the broken hearted, and He called the little children to his side, and to his kingdom.
Jesus is hope - Jesus is the answer to what you are looking for in this life - There is hope for all of us in Jesus.
Jesus - walked on water, calmed the sea, turned water to wine, Jesus laughed, got angry, defended the weak, stood up for the oppressed, When Jesus lost his friend in death - Jesus wept! Jesus raised him from the dead.
Only in Christ Jesus can you find Hope. Hope has a name - and His name is Jesus.
Jesus was turned over to for 30 silver pieces by one that sat at the table with him, Jesus was taken before judges that could not find one thing wrong with Him, Jesus was imprisoned while a murderer went free.
Jesus was BEATEN - Isiah says Jesus was beaten - striken - bruised for our sin.
Jesus was paying the price for my wrongs and for your wrongs
Jesus was led down the road to calvary - spat on, insulted, beaten the whole way, whipped, and after carrying the cross -
Jesus was nailed to the cross, His hands - His feet - hammered to the wood, and a crown of thorns pressed deep into His head, and blood ran down his face and to the ground. AS IF NOT ENOUGH a spear was shoved through His side - all while soldiers gambled for his clothes.
There is Hope is Jesus
They took Him down and placed Him in a borrowed tomb, the wait was on. Is This Man Really Going to Rise from the Dead like he said. The night has past and the women went to anoint the body - but they were met by angles say -
HE IS NOT HERE! He has risen just as He said.
Jesus - keeps His promises. There is hope on Jesus.
And this is our celebration today - that Jesus rose again. That Jesus is the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE.
We celebrate because in JESUS WE HAVE HOPE.
Jesus said - It is finished HE DID NOT say I am finished.
Jesus is still bringing hope to everyone who will call on His name for salvation.
People that have placed their trust and found hope in Christ all over the world rejoice that this same Jesus that we have talked about today - Cares for you. God loved us so much that He died on the cross to forgive our wrongs (called sins)
My prayer for each of us today is that we have a relationship with Jesus, that we find Hope in Jesus.
Very simply - I want to tell you how you can do that - How you can find Hope in Christ Jesus.
IT’s very simple - and there are only three things to hear today.
Jesus Died for our Sins (wrong doings)
Jesus was Buried
Jesus rose again
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
Jesus died for our sins.
Jesus died for our sins.
21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Jesus took our place
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Everyone has sinned
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God’s gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus (That’s Hope)
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
God is not mad at you, God loves you. You have never done one thing that God would stop loving you over - He want you to come to Him.
Jesus - willing to die for you - is not mad at you - that is love. Love always brings HOPE.
Jesus was buried.
Jesus was buried.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
They took Jesus to the tomb, it was guarded, it was no magic trick - it was God’s promise.
No power in hell, no devil, demon, or death could keep Jesus in the grave - on the 3rd day - JESUS ROSE THE VICTOR OVER DEATH AND THE GRAVE -
JESUS OFFER US eternal life as well, when we accept Him as our savior. HEAVEN (HELL)
Jesus rose again.
Jesus rose again.
5 Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,
THIS IS OUR HOPE - JESUS HAS OVERCOME THE GRAVE.
14 And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
We have this promise of eternal life through Christ Jesus - by confessing Him as Lord in our lives. -
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus is the only way.
There is no other way to heaven and relationship with God except through Christ Jesus.
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
HOPE HAS A NAME - JESUS.
Do you believe these 3 things today? It’s called the gospel - the good news.
Jesus died for my sins
Jesus was Buried
Jesus Rose again
-no you do not need to be perfect - you will never be, nor will I -
You just need to believe in your heart.
What will your response be?
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
I ask you today to believe -not me- but the gospel I have preached to you today. THE HOPE FOUND IN CHRIST JESUS.
Will you make the bold step today and confess Jesus as your savior and If so will you be obedient and follow in baptism? (there’s no waiting period) The right time to get baptized is when you accept Christ as your savior. (APRIL 23)
