For the Christian, Easter is Not Meant to be a Once a Year Affair

Why do we worship on Sunday instead of Saturday?
Have we abandoned a proper view of the Ressurection?
Here is what I see
But Peter teaches us the Ressurection has a deep and continual impact on our lives
1 Peter 1:3 ESV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Peter is teaching Christians how to live in light of the Ressurection
Basically, now that we are saved...
And it starts with God’s mercy!
Mercy is a loaded term
And because of that mercy we are born again!
But the change does not end there!
Romans 6:4 ESV
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Likewise, Peter says we are born into a “living hope”
What is living hope?
It is a life lived with focus on today and eternity
1 Timothy 4:8–10 ESV
for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
This is through the Ressurection of Christ
The hope of the Ressurection grows and sustains us
Does your life demonstrate this living hope?
What are we hoping for?
1 Peter 1:4 ESV
to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
We hope for a future inheritance
An inheritance implies kinship or family
Romans 8:17 ESV
and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
This inheritance is more real than anything you can touch or see
imperishable
undefiled
unfading
And kept for you
It is our why!
Why do you do the things you do?
How can we trust this inheritance?
1 Peter 1:5 ESV
who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Our inheritance is guarded
by God
through faith
Our trust in God’s power (the same power that rose Jesus from the dead) should be evident in our life
James 2:18–19 ESV
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
True trust or faith in God is shown by our lifestyle
Does your life reflect trust in the power of God and inheritance?
How you answer these questions determines if you can expect the following passage
1 Peter 1:6–7 ESV
In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Is your life defined by rejoicing?
Even in the testing of your faith?
Peter makes it clear here that even in the hardest times, we are a rejoicing people
But the Ressurection of Christ must become real to you before this is possible.
1 Peter 1:8–9 ESV
Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
This is the life that truly knows and follows a resurrected Lord!
This can be your experience!
But it has to come from prioritizing the gifts and the work of God over our own life!
You can embody a living hope now
