This Week’s Theme: Never would have made it without You
This Week’s Word is Rescue: Deliverance from people or forces that are overwhelming. It implies a liberator with strength and wisdom to ensure true freedom. God’s physical rescue of the Israelites points to the spiritual deliverance obtained by Jesus Christ
Memory Verse: Romans 8:37 “37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
Essence of the Text in a Sentence: The psalmist is reminding the people that God was for them when the enemy came against them
Sermon Proposition: Christian must never forget that God was on our side when the enemy came against us.
Sermon Objective: I want those in attendance to tell each other and tell those who will listen about God’s intervention.
Sermon Text: Psalm 124
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
1 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say—
2 “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us,
3 Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;
4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;
5 Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”
6 Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

JESUS SAID IN MATTHEW 6:24 “24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”
JESUS SAID IN MATTHEW 12:30 “30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”
JESUS SAID IN MARK 9:40 “40 For he who is not against us is on our side.”
A. TROUBLE
A. TROUBLE
18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
B. TEMPTATION
B. TEMPTATION
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
WE WERE
CHAINED BY OUR CRIMES
CONFINED BY OUR CORRUPTION
IMPRISONED BY OUR INIQUITY
TRAPPED BY OUR TRANGRESSION
SENTENCED BY OUR SIN
WE WERE IN BONDAGE, IN PRISON, ON OUR WAY TO HELL. WE NEEDED TO BE SET FREE. WE NEEDED SOMEONE TO POST OUR BOND, TO PAY OUR DEBT. We were
Children of the Devil but now Children of God
Children of disobedience but now Children of righteousness
Children of this world but now Children of Heaven
Children of wrath but now Children of God’s grace
YOU WERE
DIRTY BY DEPRAVITY,
GRIMY BY GREED,
NASTY BY NAUGHTINESS
FILTHY BY FOOLISHNESS,
CONTAMINATED BY CORRUPTION
POLLUTED BY PRIDE
SOILED BY SELFISHNESS,
& STAINED BY SIN
II. CONFIDENT IN HIS DEVOTION
II. CONFIDENT IN HIS DEVOTION
6 Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
We should have been the prey in the teeth of our enemy. We should have been trapped without a way of escape.
no circumstance can restrict Him
no adversity can hinder Him
no situation can constrain Him
no power can control Him
no enemy can defeat Him
no obstruction can block Him
and no force can limit Him
John 10:10 the enemy comes to kill, to steal, and to destroy
The LORD is to be blessed because He spoiled the enemy plans
THIS DILEMMA HAS DESTROYED OTHERS, BUT GOD USED IT TO DELIVERme
This HARDSHIP has HANDICAPED others, but God used it to HELPEDme
This CONDITION has CRUSHED others, but the LORD fashioned it to COMFORTme
This ORDEAL has OVERPOWERED others, but the LORD fashioned it to TURN ME INTO AN OVERCOMER
This TEST has THREW others, but the LORD fashioned it to TRANSFORMme
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.
10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
We must testify of His Deity. The verse says our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth. The verse says that the one who saved us is the Creator of heaven and earth.
This points us to the deity of the LORD. The only one that is able to create is God. Man only takes materials that have already been created by God and makes something. But God takes nothing and makes something.
Our help is the LORD God Almighty.
Your enemies should have destroyed you but God stepped in. Because He did step in it shows that we have God’s protective hand upon us, it shows that we are God’s precious possession, and it show that our trials are not bigger than God.
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
HE IS UNMATCHED, UNQUESTIONABLE, Indescribable, Uncontainable, Incomparable,
Incontestable, UNTAMABLE, Unstoppable, UNEQUALED GOD
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
IF NOT THE LORD, IF IT HAD BEEN
SOMEBODY ELSE.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
The only help we have.
The only hero we have.
Is the LORD Jesus Christ
Hero means that the LORD
Hinders Every Rebellious Objective
He Encourages Righteous Obedience
He Eliminates Random Obstacles
He Evokes Ruined Opportunities
Holy Eternal Righteous Overcomer
