Introduction

He Has Risen! He has Risen, Indeed!!!
Good morning and welcome to FCC, where we worship God in Spirit and in Truth, one verse at a time.
We are grateful that each one of you are here today, to hear from the Word of God.
If this is your first time visiting, we simply go through the Bible simply, no funny stuff.
We are currently in Matthew 8, but because today is Easter or the day we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ we will be turning to Matthew 28, however, we will be jumping around to all the gospels, because the greatest event that ever happened to the history of mankind, is located in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and each gospel writer has their own unique spin on this glorious Truth.
What truth is that? That Jesus was crucified on Friday (good Friday)or the Day of Preparation, buried in a borrowed tomb(he rode a borrowed donkey) before sundown and rested in the grave on the Sabbath Day, and arose on Sunday (the first day of the week) on the 3rd day… He is not Here!

Let’s open our Bibles to Matthew 28:1-10

And take a look at the greatest story ever given to mankind.
Matthew 28:1–4 NKJV
Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
Matthew 28:5–8 NKJV
But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

Prayer

Gracious Heavenly Father, we come to you with humbleness of heart bending our knee to you, the Lord of glory, the King of Kings, and Maker of us all, saying thank you for sending your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to die in our place. For that we say thank you and although we say thank you often and even some of us daily, we know that it is a broken hallelujah, but that still receive us, because you love us more than we all can fathom. Thank you for rising on the third day as your promised and for sending the Comforter. We ask now that you would speak to our hearts, nuggets of Truth that would fill us to overflowing. Our heart beat here Lord is that every day you give us, that you would make us more like Jesus. Heal our hearts, hear our cry, and come do a work in us all. Fill us with your generous and gentle Holy Spirit and help us to grasp, apply, and share what you give us today!
In Jesus Name, We Love You!!
Matthew 28:1 NKJV
Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
Matthew reveals tow women went to the tomb at dawn.
This means that it was day break and the only thing that they had on their heart was Jesus.
I think this is worthy of pause. Why, why would we pause on such a simple verse such as this?
It is because when these women arose, they thought of Jesus church. they thought of anointing his body with about 60-70lbs. of precious spices and fragrant oils that could kill the stench from the decaying body.
And they had to do this, because of Jewish tradition.
The word the Jews use for this linen garmet today is: Tachrichim (takh-ree-KHIM)
See the Egyptians embalmed and not the Jews.
The Jews wrapped the body in a particular way. The body with one linen cloth and the head with another. It was not mummification like the Egyptians church.
Luke 23:50–52 NKJV
Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man. He had not consented to their decision and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself was also waiting for the kingdom of God. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
Luke 23:53–56 NKJV
Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before. That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near. And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.
They did not have enough time to wrap him in linen because the Sabbath was upon them.
Sabbath was from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.
Therefore they women returned to place spices and fragrant oils upon him.
“The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the crowning proof of Christianity. If the resurrection did not take place, then Christianity is a false religion. If it did take place, then Christ is God and the Christian faith is absolute truth.”—
Matthew 28:1 NKJV
Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
The ladies went to the tomb first thing in the morning to anoint Jesus body church, regardless of the traumatic event that the women had experienced.
See they were at the cross when Jesus was crucified:
Matthew 27:55–56 NKJV
And many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
These women church, knew that there was something different about this Man.
See Jesus cast out seven demons out of Mary Magdalene and she loved him for this.
There was not just one demon, but there was seven church.
Mary was slandered and mocked by the multitudes because of her condition. I am sure she was bullied, and made fun of maybe all of her life.
And Jesus met her in the midst of all her pain and set her free church, set her free.
And the same Jesus that set Mary free, can set you and I free from whatever is holding us hostage, whatever is holding us captive.
She was not on at the Cross, and the tomb, but she was actually the first person to see Jesus after his resurrection:
Mark 16:9 NKJV
Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.
And she was a Galilean church, from the town of Magdala which is on the west bank of the Sea of Galilee.
Mary also, was the one who Jesus had tell the disciples that has was risen:
John 20:18 NKJV
Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.
Luke 24:10 NKJV
It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.
So the Lord used a woman in the midst of a patriarcal society, to proclaim the message of the resurrection.
She was at the cross, see was at the tomb, she was the first to see Jesus after his resurrected, and she was the one who told the disciples, HE IS ALIVE< HE IS ALIVE church.
1 Corinthians 1:27 KJV 1900
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Personally I find it interesting that Eve was the first one to sin in the garden, but women are the last man standing when Jesus is crucified.
This is a picture of the grace of God church, the grace of God.
Because God is all about redemption and he loves to take broken vessels, leaky cisterns, and make them whole to bring glory to God.
Mary is just one of many examples that this has happened to.
There are examples sitting here today church, that despite your brokenness, God desires to use you like Mary.
Matthew 28:1 NKJV
Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
Note: Mary and Mary went to the tomb at dawn
Do you run toJesus in the morning? Do you spend time with the Lord of your life?
Matthew 28:2–5 NKJV
And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
Not only was there an earthquake at the cross when Jesus died, but here when the angel of the Lord descended.
Not only was there earthquakes at the cross, but there was darkness for three hours, the veil that was 60ft high and 4 inches thinks was rent, or torn from top to bottom, but saints of old were resurrected church:
Mark 15:33–34 NKJV
Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Matthew 27:50–53 NKJV
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
What significance does this torn veil have for us today? Above all, the tearing of the veil at the moment of Jesus’ death dramatically symbolized that His sacrifice, the shedding of His own blood, was a sufficient atonement for sins. It signified that now the way into the Holy of Holies was open for all people, for all time, both Jew and Gentile.
So the priestly system had ceased, and because the veil was torn, we now can go directly to Jesus and need not go to any man, but The Man!!!
Behold- idou- look, this particular word is sued to liven up Hebrew narrative, to change a scene, to emphasize an idea, or to call attention to a detail.
If there was ever something we should turn our attention to church, it is the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ!
There is no single event in the entire history of the world that is more important than this.
1 Corinthians 15:12–14 NKJV
Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.
1 Corinthians 15:17 NKJV
And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!
Hebrews 9:22 KJV 1900
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Going back to our text, I find it interesting church, that after Jesus is resurrected, and the angel of the Lord shows up at the tomb, removes the stone, that there is no more mention of him.
It seems when the definite article “the”Angel of the Lord is used, it is specifying a unique being, separate from the other angels.
It is possible that appearances of the angel of the Lord were manifestations of Jesus before His incarnation. Jesus declared Himself to be existent “before Abraham” (John 8:58), so it is logical that He would be active and manifest in the world. Whatever the case, whether the angel of the Lord was a pre-incarnate appearance of Christ (Christophany) or an appearance of God the Father (theophany), it is highly likely that the phrase “the angel of the Lord” usually identifies a physical appearance of God.
Notice that the angel rolled back the stone church, not to let Jesus out, but to let the women in.
He then went on to let them know they were seeking Jesus.
Can you imagine the response of the women? For the angel of the Lord just read their hearts>>>
God knows the thought and intents of our hearts church and desires to be the Lord over them...
He also gave them an imperative and said, DO NOT BE AFRAID!!!
And you know, that is great counsel for us today! Especially in the times we are living in. Jesus is instructing each and everyone of us today to not be afraid, for he is with us and will never leave us or forsake us church:
Psalm 34:7 KJV 1900
The angel of the Lord encampeth Round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
This same angel is mentioned in the OT in many many places.
Mark 16:2–8 NKJV
Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.” So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
Here, we see Mark’s account church.
And I would like to take a look at the question the ladies posed to each other while walking to the tomb or at the tomb.
Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us? Who will do this?
I think this is a profound question for us today, because there are some of us sitting here today that have huge stones or obstacles in our lives and no matter what we have tried to do, no matter how many times we tried to quit the addiction, or tried to stop acting out in anger, or spending too much money, or looking at porn, or tried to quit_________fill in the blank, we fail over and over again and we feel shame and condemnation.
Who will roll away these stones in our lives?
It is not us church, But our Risen Savior the Lord Jesus Christ himself.
Surely His power can roll the stone away!
WITHOUT THE RESURRECTION, THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS OF SIN.
WITHOUT THE RESURRECTION, THERE IS NOT ETERNAL LIFE.
PRAY GOD THE GRAVE WAS CONQUERED AND DEATH WAS DEFEATED BY OUR KING JESUS!
FOR HE HAS RISEN!
Matthew 28:6–8 NKJV
He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.
The angel said, Come and see, go and tell church and this is exactly what the ladies did!
And today, the Lord is saying the same thing to us, he is calling us to himself and saying Come unto Me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
And then there are others that he is saying Go tell them, Go share the news the Jesus is alive, he has conquered the grave and has a free gift offering of grace to those who would believe upon his name and that he died, and was raised on the third day.
