Surely he has borne our griefs and carried
our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was
pierced for our transgressions; he was
crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the
chastisement that brought us peace, and
with his wounds we are healed. All we like
sheep have gone astray; we have turned—
every one—to his own way; and the LORD
has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

And when evening had come, since it was
the day of Preparation, that is, the day
before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a
respected member of the council, who was
also himself looking for the kingdom of God,
took courage and went to Pilate and asked
for the body of Jesus. Pilate was surprised to
hear that he should have already died.
Mark 15:42–47
And when he learned from the centurion
that he was dead, he granted the corpse to
Joseph. And Joseph bought a linen shroud,
and taking him down, wrapped him in the
linen shroud and laid him in a tomb that had
been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a
stone against the entrance of the tomb.

How can this news affect me?
• Hear the news (“preached,” 2x)
How then will they call on him in
whom they have not believed? And
how are they to believe in him of
whom they have never heard? And
how are they to hear without
someone preaching?
Romans 10:14

• Accept the news: “received…believed”
For “everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved.”

Therefore, since we have been
justified by faith, we have peace with
God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Through him we have also obtained
access by faith into this grace in
which we stand, and we rejoice in
hope of the glory of God.
