The Provision Of God
Title: He’s Testing Me
Intro.
God doesn’t tempt, He Tests.
Temptation is when Satan partners with your desires and leads you into destruction.
Whenever God tests, it’s for my development.
Tests brings you into Maturity.
Every Test that you take has been Ordained by God. (Ordained=assigned; scheduled)
Abraham was a tested man.
**Background on Abraham**
Married to Sarai (Sarah) who was baren.
God called Abraham to leave his father’s land at 75 yrs old to go to a place that God wanted to show him.
He and His wife goes on this journey with God and God promises a baby boy as they have been believing and trying for decades. (THEY’RE OLD) HIS NAME WILL BE ISSAC. (God gave him the name)
Sarah laughs in disbelief and God tells Abraham, “this time next year, i will be back and you will have a son.
God returns back at the time he said and Sarah is holding what was in her heart, in her hands. The miracle child, Issac is here and Abraham is 100 yrs old.
**Things you need to know**
God is Omniscient/ Omniscience.
All- Knowing; All-seeing.
God is Omnipresent.
God is not limited to any location or physical space. He’s present everywhere.
As you are being tested, you need to know:
God sees.
God knows.
God is present.
But there are some test that make us ask these questions:
Does God see?
Does God know?
Is He (God) Present?
*lean into the text*
Abraham & Sarah finally have a son together and this is the son that God spoke about and named..
(Talk about how Abraham must feel. Excited, encouraged, full of faith)
Until He gets a knock on the door of His heart..
WALK THROUGH THE STORY FIRST AND THEN EXTRACT THE POINTS..
“Take your Son, your ONLY SON, yes Issac, whom you love so much....” (PRESSURE HERE)
POINTS:
#1- OBEY.
Learn how to obey God even through hard situations. Genesis 22:1-5
Obedience opens your eyes to what God wants to show you. Genesis 22:2; Genesis 22:4
Obedience is the key to Provision. Genesis 22:11-14
Sometimes provision is attached to a specific location.
If Abraham isn’t in the place where obedience led him, he would’ve missed his provision.
To whom does God give His provision? To those who trust Him and obey His instructions. When we are doing the will of God, we have the right to expect the provision of God.
Warren W. Wiersbe
#2- Have Faith. Genesis 22:5; Genesis 22:8-14
Abraham kept his faith in tact.
He trusted God enough to give Him whatever He asked but He also trusted God enough that God would resurrect whatever He asked for. (I BELIEVE GOD) ONLY BELIEVE.
Your faith in God is the guarantee for what you can’t see yet. Hebrews 11:1
Abraham couldn’t see the provision yet but He kept His faith.
#3- Listen. Genesis 22:1; Genesis 22:11
You must listen at all times.
if Abraham didn’t listen for God’s voice calling his name, He could’ve missed some instructions that were changed.
Failure to listen will lead you into destruction.
If Abraham wouldn’t have listened, He would’ve killed Issac.
#4- Look Up. Genesis 22:13
If Abraham doesn’t look up, He wouldn’t have saw His provision waiting on him.
Explain the significance of the Ram..
The Ram was caught in the thicket by its horns.
Most Rams are caught up in the thicket by their fur and cut by the thorns. It’s unusual for Rams to be caught up by the Horns.
The Ram had to be caught up by the Horns because it had to be without blemish (without small mark or spec).
That Ram was a substitute for the sacrifice of Issac.
And One Thousand Years Later, the Spotless Lamb of God(Jesus) was sacrificed on the same exact mountain and became a substitute for you and I. Through this sacrifice, Salvation was provided and extended to us all for free.
This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His Provision toward us is Salvation.
