It was Palm Sunday but because of a sore throat, 5 year old Sammy stayed home from church with a babysitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm fronds. Sammy inquired as to what they were for. 'People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by,' his father responded. 'Wouldn't you just know it?' Sammy complained, 'the one Sunday I don't go and Jesus shows up.' [funny-jokes.com]
Zechariah 9:9 (LEB)
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king comes to you; he is righteous(legitimate) and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a male donkey, the foal of a female donkey!

KING

DAVIDIC IN ORIGIN.”your king” they’re king of promise, not some foreign king who came and oppressed the people in their homeland. Satan has tried to take up this rule in your life through this world and lies that sound good but are truly only to keep you in a bondage.

LEGITIMATE/RIGHTEOUS

MEANS TO CONFORM TO A CERTAIN STANDARD OR MEETING A SPECIFIC CRITERIA OF MORALITY AND ETHICS THAT WERE OUTLINED AND REVEALED IN THE MOSAIC LAW. THE IDEAL KING WOULD BE MORAL AND ETHICAL PILLAR. HE CREATED THE PILLAR

VICTORIOUS

Palm branches are a sign of victory. the waving of palm branches and crying of Hosanna (save now) was a tradition started 200 years before. There was a bloodthirsty king who reigned, a Syrian king named Antiochus Epiphanes. so evil and blasphemous that he slaughtered a pig in the Holy of Holies and made the priests drink its blood. After years of this tyranny a man named Judas Maccabee or Hammer.....and his brothers decided to launch a revolt against this evil. About 9 yrs later the Macabee and his renegade army miraculously overcame Epiphanes and drove him out of Jerusalem the people waved palm branches in celebration of the victory. The palm branch has since become a symbol of deliverance from oppression.

HUMBLE

Jesus came riding on a donkey to show that He wasn’t coming to pronounce war on the Romans but that he was coming in humility. He would have been on a horse if He was coming for war. He came to save what did He come to save us from?? because normally you are saved out of trouble....
