1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7 In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Alive in Christ
Alive in Christ
last week we finished off with Pauls showing of what freedom in christ looks like. how we are no longer bound to the law as well as man made instituiosn that that bible dosent put on us.
Paul showed us in vs 22 of 2 that a alot of things appear to have wisdome but are really self promoting and religious deeds that have no place with us.
Paul left it on a bit of a dreery note
23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.
But pick up with this hopefull peace
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Paul is calling us to stop focussing on the earthly things that distract us from what matters and rather to focus on christ who is seat beside God
Everything on this earth fades away 2:22 but God is eternal
3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
We talked about it a few week ago that we have died and burried with christ that is what baptism is a picture of. and is this we appear in glory with christ for all of eternity
we share in the death of christ we have been rasised up with him in Glory!
Friends we are made a live in Chirst’s death and resurection which we will be celibrating this friday.

evil desire
covetourness - idolatry and jealousy
obsence talk
anger
malice
lieing
we are called to put these things aside as they do not reflect the glory of God.
paul mentions this several times through out the scriptures
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;
we talked a lot about sanctification in the fall but this is a key part that we leave our sin in the past
If we look at the world we see this all the time
we worship sexuality and expression
we get angry at everything
people lie like its a sport we celebrate it
obsence talk:
Covetounes: influencer culture
Paul calls those of us who belong to Jesus to cast off those things. culture worships these points but we are called to live in relationship with Jesus and b
Our new self is made alive in christ and as vs 10 states we are being made and renewed in the image of The creator God! we are not broken into categories at the time were jew barbarian scythian slave and free but now itts what ever we choose to seperate by. those seperations dont matter what matter what matters is that is free in christ
So now what?
So now what?
Paul calls us to respond by embracing this freedom as the one that christ has chose ones that are holy and beloved= drive this point
Paul gives us instruction of what to do
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Paul calls the church to be:
humble
kind
meek
paitent
forgiving
and most important loving
When love has its full effect in the community it will result in peace: Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace
