Why Did Jesus Have to Die on The Cross?
INTRODUCTION:
Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—”
A) Adam’s sin caused separation between us and God because we have his inherited sin nature.
We have lied, stolen, or used bad language
The Bible calls that sin
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The wages of sin is death (Speaks of eternal death, which is permanent or eternal (Hell).
**Based on our own merit, we stand guilty before God who is the judge**
( What has God done for us?)
( 2:1) “You He made alive”, because you were...
A) (Spiritually) Dead in your trespasses and sin
B) Under the control of Satan
C) Why do people commit horrible crimes, because they are under the power of Satan
(Our Rescuer)
2. ( 2:4) But God, rich in mercy because of His love for us
A) Christ made us alive because we were dead in our sin
B) Mercy through not receiving judgement for sin
2.2 (V4) Why did He make us alive? (His great love)
A) Because of His love
2.3 (V7) Riches of His grace
A) You cannot run out of His grace
2 Corinthians 12:9 “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2.3 (V8) How did He make us alive?
A) By grace, through faith
B) Not of yourself
C) Not of works
(God wants to use our lives)
3. (2:10) His workmanship, created in Christ for good works
**Not saved by works, but God created us for good works
A) First, God wants us to live a life of obedience to Him
B) Our lives should glorify Him
**Sometimes its not what you say but how you live through treating people with respect through love
