What is the resurrection?
When did it happen?
1 Cor 15 is a entire chapter that discusses the resurrection and why its so important.
V. 3-8
Paul says that this is the most foundational and fundamental teaching of Christianity. You mess this part up you miss the mark of what Christianity is.
This is also the bare minimum of our gospel when we share it.
But the question remains; why is the resurrection so important?
V. 14-19
If Jesus didn’t rise then we are wasting our time.
You and I are still enemies of God, and as lawbreakers we are guilty before Him.
V.20-22
Christ has been raised, and with His resurrection, the validation of our faith.
All who are in Christ have been made alive, my place before God is restored, and I have joy in the midst of struggles.
The resurrection is the validation of everything and God’s stamp of approval on the work of His Son, and it is our greatest hope.
So why does it matter to me?
If Jesus has been raised then I have to answer before God, and I will be judged for me life, and without Him I have nothing to stand on before God.
Discussion Questions:
How does the resurrection validate our faith?
How does the resurrection help me believe God’s word?
How does the fact that Jesus resurrected impact the way that I live?
