EL EFECTO DE LA PALABRA The effect of the Word

1 Pedro 1:18–19, 23 (RVR60)

18 sabiendo que fuisteis rescatados de vuestra vana manera de vivir, la cual recibisteis de vuestros padres, no con cosas corruptibles, como oro o plata,

19 sino con la sangre preciosa de Cristo, como de un cordero sin mancha y sin contaminación…

23 siendo renacidos, no de simiente corruptible, sino de incorruptible, por la palabra de Dios que vive y permanece para siempre.

La Biblia es un libro de propósitos, de familias, de comienzos y finales. Es un libro de procesos y avances, de logros y victorias.

-The Bible is a book of purposes, of families, of beginnings and endings. It is a book of processes and advances, of achievements and victories.

La Biblia es la revelación del amor de Dios.

-The Bible is the revelation of God's love.

-Cada uno de estos comienzos “trata de un nacimiento: Génesis 1 es el nacimiento del universo, Esdras 1 es el renacimiento de la nación después del exilio de Babilonia, Mateo 1 es el nacimiento de Jesús, y Hechos 1 es el nacimiento de la Iglesia”. -Each of these beginnings "teach us about a birth: Genesis 1 is the birth of the universe, Ezra 1 is the rebirth of the nation after the Babylonian exile, Matthew 1 is the birth of Jesus, and Acts 1 is the birth of the Church".

El agua de vida | The water of life

-Como contexto paralelo en el relato del primer comienzo, la Biblia hace referencia al agua como símbolo de la vida. Veamos tres de ellas:

-As a parallel context in the story of the first beginning, the Bible refers to water as a symbol of life. Let's see three of them:

1. Las aguas del principio The waters of the beginning

-Genesis dice que en el principio el Espíritu de Dios se movía sobre la faz de las aguas.

-Genesis says that in the beginning the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

-Estas son las aguas del principio de la vida natural. El Espíritu de Dios se movía sobre la superficie de las aguas, como dándoles vida.

-These are the waters of the beginning of natural life. The Spirit of God moved over the surface of the waters, as if giving them life.

2. Las aguas del diluvio The waters of the flood

-Son las aguas que trajeron el juicio sobre una humanidad rebelde e incrédula; pero que a su vez testifican de la preservación de la vida de una generación que le creyó a Dios.

-These are the waters that brought judgment on a rebellious and incredulous humanity; but also testify to the preservation of the life of a generation that believed in God.

-La Biblia dice que 8 personas fueron salvadas por agua.

-The Bible says that 8 people were saved by water.

-Lo que para unos fue medio de destrucción, para otros (los de la fe) fue medio de preservación.

-What for some was a means of destruction, for others (those of faith) was a means of preservation.

3. Las aguas del bautismo The waters of baptism

-Estas aguas representan el fin de una vida dominada por el pecado, para entrar a la dimensión de una nueva vida gobernada por el Espíritu de Dios.

-These waters represent the end of a life dominated by sin, to enter the dimension of a new life governed by the Spirit of God.

21 El agua del diluvio simboliza el bautismo que ahora los salva a ustedes —no por quitarles la suciedad del cuerpo, sino porque responden a Dios con una conciencia limpia— y es eficaz por la resurrección de Jesucristo.

21 And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

NUEVO NACIMIENTO New Birth

-Después del pecado, el ser humano fue despojado, entre otras cosas, de la gloria de Dios y de la imagen de Dios.

-After sin, the human being was stripped of the glory and the image of God.

-La Biblia nos muestra la manera en que el hombre puede ser restaurado y recuperar esa gloria e imagen. Estamos hablando del nuevo nacimiento. Este es el efecto de la Palabra de Dios.

-The Bible shows us the way in which man can be restored and recover that glory and that image. We are talking about the new birth. This is the effect of the Word of God.

-Llamado también regeneración, es la acción exclusiva de Dios, quien, a través de su Espíritu Santo, da vida a aquellos que se vuelven a él con fe (arrepentimiento).

El nuevo nacimiento es una transición de la muerte espiritual a la vida espiritual. (Diccionario Hispano-Americano de la misión).

-Also called regeneration, it is the exclusive work of God, who, through his Holy Spirit, gives life to those who turn to him in faith (repentance).

The new birth is a transition from spiritual death to spiritual life.

-Esta obra indica que Dios renueva el corazón, el núcleo mismo del ser de una persona, implantando en él un nuevo principio para sus deseos, propósitos y acciones.

Cuando Jesús habla de “nacer de agua y del Espíritu” (Juan 3:5), nos recuerda a Ezequiel 36:25–27, donde se describe a Dios purificando de manera simbólica a las personas de la contaminación del pecado (por medio del agua) y otorgándoles un “nuevo corazón” al poner su Espíritu dentro de ellas. -This miracle indicates that God renews the heart, the center of a person's being, implanting in it a new beginning for his desires, purposes and actions.

When Jesus speaks of “being born of water and the Spirit” (John 3:5), we are reminded of Ezekiel 36:25–27, where God is symbolically purifying people from the contamination of sin (through the water) and giving them a “new heart” by putting his Spirit within them.

-El agua es símbolo de la palabra y es el Espíritu quien usa la palabra para operar el nuevo nacimiento.

-Water is a symbol of the word and it is the Spirit who uses the word to operate the new birth.

Ezequiel 36:25–27 (NTV

25 Entonces los rociaré con agua pura y quedarán limpios. Lavaré su inmundicia y dejarán de rendir culto a ídolos.

26 Les daré un corazón nuevo y pondré un espíritu nuevo dentro de ustedes. Les quitaré ese terco corazón de piedra y les daré un corazón tierno y receptivo.

27 Pondré mi Espíritu en ustedes para que sigan mis decretos y se aseguren de obedecer mis ordenanzas.

Ezekiel 36:25–27 (NLT)

25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols.

26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

27 And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.

-La obra del nuevo nacimiento es el efecto producido por la palabra de Dios en la vida de la persona que cree. “El, de su voluntad nos hizo renacer por la palabra de verdad” (Stg. 1.18)

-The work of the new birth is the effect produced by the word of God in the life of the person who believes. “He chose to give us birth through the word of truth” (Jam. 1.18).

Propósitos del nuevo nacimiento Purposes of the new birth

-Jesucristo es el cumplimiento de la primera promesa de redención para el ser humano (Gen. 3.15). La imagen que el hombre perdió en el principio ha sido restaurada por la obra regeneradora de Dios y la imagen del hombre perfecto (Jesús) es nuestro modelo.

-Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the first promise of redemption for the human being (Gen. 3.15). The image that man lost in the beginning has been restored by God's regenerative work and the image of the perfect man (Jesus) is our model.

-El nuevo nacimiento tiene tres propósitos: The new birth has three purposes:

1) Transformar nuestro comportamiento moral Transform our moral behavior

2) Perfeccionar nuestro carácter espiritual Perfect our spiritual character

18Por tanto, nosotros todos, mirando a cara descubierta como en un espejo la gloria del Señor, somos transformados de gloria en gloria en la misma imagen, como por el Espíritu del Señor.

18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

3) Capacitarnos para vencer al mundo (pecado) Train to overcome the world (sin)

4 Porque todo lo que es nacido de Dios vence al mundo; y esta es la victoria que ha vencido al mundo, nuestra fe.

4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

-En el nuevo nacimiento Dios nos hace más que vencedores. Podemos vencer al mundo, al pecado y a la muerte.

-En el nuevo nacimiento tenemos vida eterna.
