Verse 1-2

what Nadab and Abihu forgot was that God was Holy

Verse 3-6

First, Aaron needs to provide a sin offering for himself and his household

federal headship

this is contrasted with our High Priest who doesn't need to do that (Heb. 7:26-27)

Verse 7-10

Two goats

propitiation (sacrifice to appease wrath)

expiation (removing sin from the offender)

but this is not a sacrifice to the demon, this is symbolically a slap in the face

Israel being symbolic of heaven on earth, had to have sin kicked out of it

verse 11-19

The Holy place must first be purified.

Why? because its on sinful earth and made by sinful hands

Verse 20-30

The question is, “Why is it Blood?”

what does sin earn?

Death (Ezekiel 18:20, Rom. 6:23)

What is the opposite of death?

life, Lev. 17:11.

but these animal sacrifices could fully atone for sins. Why?

Heb. 10:4

they don't represent a human

that wont be done till the Messiah would come

Heb. 9:11-14, 10:11-12.
