The Scent of Victory: Strong Enough for the World, but Only Made for His Children (I know it sounds like a Secret deodarant commercial LOL)

First Note: The Allure of the Savior Is Made Known

Bring this story modern day and how Jesus was like some of your favorite preachers of today. You have a split fanbase you have those that loved Jesus and then you had those that wanted Him dead.

The fact that this woman was not even apart of the dinner party, and not even part of the household. This was Mary Lazarus’s sister so she wasn’t just an anonymous figure though that is how she is represented in the scripture. (Ref Jn 12:1-8). So in Matthew she anoints his head and in John she anointed His feet.

You need your mind (anointed) covered first, before you start the fulfilment of your purpose.

The very people who followed Jesus that KNEW who he was and what he was to do still didn’t see what was taking place with Him though it was in plain sight. So much so Jesus had to explain to them what she was doing. Jesus had to rebuke the disciples. (vs 9)

No matter where you go the OIL WILL WILL ALWAYS LIGHT UP A ROOM TO DEFINE WHERE YOU ARE GOING!

“The oil that is on my life for His Purpose is UNDENIABLE! IT WILL MAKE ITS OWN ANNOUNCEMENT!” (ME) SO STOP ANNOUNCING YOURSELF TO EVERYBODY!! IF THEY NEED YOUR ANNOUNCEMENT THEN THEY AREN’T FOR YOU. WHO NEEDS YOU WILL SEE YOU BY WHAT THEY SENSE IN THE SPIRIT!

This oil was what we call Parfum it is not concentrated in ANY way it is the OIL OF WHEREVER IT CAME this one in particular came from the root of a flowering plant OIL from the Himalayas of Tibet.

The Himalayas is at a high altitude of 29,032 ft or 6100m’s which means this oil was intentionally brought out. The air up there is exceptionally thin. Think about it?

Matthew 26:6–8 M:BCL

6 When Jesus was at Bethany, a guest of Simon the Leper, 7 a woman came up to him as he was eating dinner and anointed him with a bottle of very expensive perfume. 8 When the disciples saw what was happening, they were furious. “That’s criminal!

These disciples were worried about feeding the poor with the oil that Mary poured out on Him, when the Savior was being prepared to be an eternal provider for them by way of His death.

Jesus was more good dead than alive, though He performed great works it was his absence that made all of us better.

There will always be somebody close to you lurking to overthrow what God has purposed for you, it’s ok YOU HAVE OIL ON YOU THAT ALREADY HAS A PRECURSOR OF YOUR DESTINATION! (Judas was an instrument to the Chief Priest and scribes who sought a deceitful way to arrest and kill Jesus). The interesting thing about this is that though they wanted to kill him they couldn’t kill him during Passover because Jesus at this time was heralded by many it would have grown the tear amongst the Jews even worse. Mk 14:2

2 They agreed that it should not be done during Passover Week. “We don’t want the crowds up in arms,” they said.

The interesting thing about this text in Matthew that he left out was that in Mk. 14:13-16 Jesus describes that there will be a man walking with a jar of water.

Now what else could this be an indicator of this moment?

It was a presenting of the e security of the Holy Spirit in a container which could mean access when the right time comes for Him to be released and poured into the believer after He was to die. Jn 14:16 “16 I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you.” Jn 7:38 “38 Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.””

13 He directed two of his disciples, “Go into the city. A man carrying a water jug will meet you. Follow him. 14 Ask the owner of whichever house he enters, ‘The Teacher wants to know, Where is my guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a spacious second-story room, swept and ready. Prepare for us there.” 16 The disciples left, came to the city, found everything just as he had told them, and prepared the Passover meal.

Second Note: Preparing for the Persecutors

Now at this time the stage is set and Jesus is before the disciples and they are disclosed somewhere private. So there was no bottle service, and their weren’t any DJ’s in the room shouting out Jesus, none of that.

This was a very sacred and serious time for them all, because at this time this would be the very last time they would see him alive, the next time would be after he returns after going down to Hell and finally evicting Satan from Heaven ever having access.

Jesus then goes down and breaks down the plot of his betrayal, death, and denial by his disciples. Matt 26:20-24 “20 After sunset, he and the Twelve were sitting around the table. 21 During the meal, he said, “I have something hard but important to say to you: One of you is going to hand me over to the conspirators.” 22 They were stunned, and then began to ask, one after another, “It isn’t me, is it, Master?” 23 Jesus answered, “The one who hands me over is someone I eat with daily, one who passes me food at the table. 24 In one sense the Son of Man is entering into a way of treachery well-marked by the Scriptures—no surprises here. In another sense that man who turns him in, turns traitor to the Son of Man—better never to have been born than do this!”

Now understand that this was earlier spoken in Matt 17:23 “23 They will murder him—and three days later he will be raised alive.” The disciples felt terrible.” So the fact that this was something that they couldn’t understand shows their arrogance and inability to see that Jesus knew their hearts, but get this HE NEVER EXPOSED THEM TO THEM. Their are times when you have to allow those close to you to learn something about themselves that they never knew capable to do.

It is imperative for us to be able to acknowledge that when you take communion that God knows your heart in that moment, and that is why we pray before taking it. We repent of any and all sins in our hearts. Because it says it in 1 Cor 11:27-32 “27 Anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Master irreverently is like part of the crowd that jeered and spit on him at his death. Is that the kind of “remembrance” you want to be part of? 28 Examine your motives, test your heart, come to this meal in holy awe. 29 If you give no thought (or worse, don’t care) about the broken body of the Master when you eat and drink, you’re running the risk of serious consequences. 30 That’s why so many of you even now are listless and sick, and others have gone to an early grave. 31 If we get this straight now, we won’t have to be straightened out later on. 32 Better to be confronted by the Master now than to face a fiery confrontation later.” Therefore we don’t just take it without praying.

The seats are filling up, but the smell that is on Jesus never fleets, in fact IT’S GETTING STRONGER BY THE MINUTES!!!!

The stage is being set for the world to be brought back into realignment with the Father.

Jesus knows what He must do that is why it is so important for us to see why we as humanity must observe this annually and to bring others into the encounter of the most amazing account of creation, that is the life, death, burial, but more importantly the resurrection of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

The disciples were only safe while Jesus was alive, they never truly found themselves while they were alive. Their hearts were proven during this time. His death brought disorder and confusion amongst them instead of unifying them. Matt 26:31-32 “31 Then Jesus told them, “Before the night’s over, you’re going to fall to pieces because of what happens to me. There is a Scripture that says, I’ll strike the shepherd; helter-skelter the sheep will be scattered. 32 But after I am raised up, I, your Shepherd, will go ahead of you, leading the way to Galilee.””

There are the loud mouths of loyalty who speak prematurely before the moment to be tried approaches. Many will claim to be loyal to you but that is apart of the aroma of the victory of Jesus: DENIAL

TOP Note the most noticeable, it is the smell you smell when it is first applied

Middle Note this is like the bonding agent to the experience.

Bottom Note this is the fragrance that you will smell the longest and it is the base of the experience altogether.

This bottle of Christ de Parfum is comprised of:

1st Note: Is the allure of the miracles signs and wonders that Jesus performed. This has the ability to draw opposition by them wanting His head.

(Sensationalism of who He was)

2nd Note: The life of the Persecuted and Rejected. Though many marveled only few really dealt with Him, for fear of the chief priests and scribes wanting them dead too. This attracts denial by those you can be around as well.... this has a tendency of making those close to you uncomfortable. Denial is the greatest sign

3rd Note: The Scent of Love through His dying on the cross. This has the ability to send you through euphoric accounts of taking you back to the day you said,” Yes to Him and how your life was forever changed. How you can’t help but to break the story to any and everyone you meet. You JUST HAVE TO COME SEE ABOUT A MAN THAT TOLD ME EVERYTHING ABOUT MY LIFE JUST LIKE THE WOMAN AT THE WELL IN JOHN 4....” The same love that you use for some can turn into Betrayal by the very people that you love.

Final Note: The Full Body of His Love is Set to be Revealed

Three hours the disciples slept through the whole time while Jesus was listening to ensure that Him dying was the route He was to go. Matt 26:31-46

31 Then Jesus told them, “Before the night’s over, you’re going to fall to pieces because of what happens to me. There is a Scripture that says, I’ll strike the shepherd; helter-skelter the sheep will be scattered. 32 But after I am raised up, I, your Shepherd, will go ahead of you, leading the way to Galilee.” 33 Peter broke in, “Even if everyone else falls to pieces on account of you, I won’t.” 34 “Don’t be so sure,” Jesus said. “This very night, before the rooster crows up the dawn, you will deny me three times.” 35 Peter protested, “Even if I had to die with you, I would never deny you.” All the others said the same thing. 36 Then Jesus went with them to a garden called Gethsemane and told his disciples, “Stay here while I go over there and pray.” 37 Taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he plunged into an agonizing sorrow. 38 Then he said, “This sorrow is crushing my life out. Stay here and keep vigil with me.” 39 Going a little ahead, he fell on his face, praying, “My Father, if there is any way, get me out of this. But please, not what I want. You, what do you want?” 40 When he came back to his disciples, he found them sound asleep. He said to Peter, “Can’t you stick it out with me a single hour? 41 Stay alert; be in prayer so you don’t wander into temptation without even knowing you’re in danger. There is a part of you that is eager, ready for anything in God. But there’s another part that’s as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire.” 42 He then left them a second time. Again he prayed, “My Father, if there is no other way than this, drinking this cup to the dregs, I’m ready. Do it your way.” 43 When he came back, he again found them sound asleep. They simply couldn’t keep their eyes open. 44 This time he let them sleep on, and went back a third time to pray, going over the same ground one last time. 45 When he came back the next time, he said, “Are you going to sleep on and make a night of it? My time is up, the Son of Man is about to be handed over to the hands of sinners. 46 Get up! Let’s get going! My betrayer is here.”

Jesus had to keep everything on course for what He was about to do. The smell of the Bottom/Base note was becoming stronger and stronger. He had to stop Peter from exact revenge on them. While also saving His life and putting the ear back on the centurion soldier.

Full Body Baseline: Why Love is His Undeniable

Jesus could have fought the charges, but He didn’t because He knew that He needed to keep pace for what everything needed to happen to fulfill the will of the Father. They bring him to the high priest Caiaphas where him and Jesus discuss His charges. He was so perplexed as to why the people wanted Jesus dead so badly and Jesus would return a response that would confuse Him even the more in Matt 26:64

64 Jesus was curt: “You yourself said it. And that’s not all. Soon you’ll see it for yourself: The Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Mighty One, Arriving on the clouds of heaven.”

We can deal with the accounts of Judas and Peter , but that is not why we are here today. Why we gather in this building today is because of Undeniable Love of Jesus that BOTTOM NOTE HITS DIFFERENT WHEN YOU CAN SEE WHAT HE HAS BROUGHT YOU THROUGH!!!!!

He took that Cross a little under a mile and a half. Which He would go to plant it in the ground on a HILL FAR AWAY!!!!! This name of Calvary was also named Golgotha which means shaved head, and back in the day they would shave their heads after their consecration.

You see this is the high place where all could take in the AROMA OF THE LOVE OF GOD!!!! It may seem gruesome, but what if I told you that though there were tears that was shed, that soon some would see Him again and for the next 40 days they would experience the UNCOMMON BLESSINGS AND SIGNS AND WONDERS of the SECOND COMING OF CHRIST.....

Now guess what there will be a THIRD and FINAL ARRIVAL, but this time He will coming back for us HIS CHILDREN those that accepted Him and to those that He rejected they will take their place in Hell with the rest of the rejected.

Matthew 10:31–33 M:BCL

31 So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries. 32 “Stand up for me against world opinion and I’ll stand up for you before my Father in heaven. 33 If you turn tail and run, do you think I’ll cover for you?

SO don’t run from the SCENT OF VICTORY THAT WAS PAID FOR US through the LIFE OF JESUS!!!!

Jesus died because He loves a world that though His Father created all don’t love Him. It is our job to show the world the love of Jesus in our families, on our jobs, in our marriage (don’t trip these place are lacking in some of our Christian marriages).

We must show a world how big, wide, long, and old His love is through His Word.

Take a Deep Breathe You’re INHALING HIS VICTORY FOR YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW!!!!

For the believer we once knew how much we stunk with the scent of sin and not the scent of God’s Grace, Love, Mercy, and just Relationship.

Here is another thing spending time with Jesus your scent will get stronger and stronger!!!!
