Open passage Luke 18:35-42 “As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind beggar was sitting beside the road. When he heard the noise of a crowd going past, he asked what was happening. They told him that Jesus the Nazarene was going by. So he began shouting, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” “Be quiet!” the people in front yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” When Jesus heard him, he stopped and ordered that the man be brought to him. As the man came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord,” he said, “I want to see!” And Jesus said, “All right, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you.””
35As Jesus and his followers arrived at Jericho, a blind beggar was sitting by the roadside. 36 When he heard the crowd approaching, he asked, “What’s all this commotion about?”
37“It’s Jesus!” they said. “Jesus the Nazarene is passing by.”
38The blind beggar shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity and show me mercy!”
39Those in the front of the crowd scolded him and warned him to be quiet, but the blind beggar screamed out even louder, “Jesus, Son of David, show me mercy!”
40Suddenly Jesus stopped and directed those nearby, “Bring the man over to me.” When they brought him before Jesus, he asked the man, 41“What do you want me to do for you?”
“Master,” he said, “please, I want to see.”
42Jesus said, “Now you will see. Receive your sight this moment, for your faith in me has given you sight and new life.”
43Instantly he could see again. His eyes popped open, and he saw Jesus standing in front of him! He shouted loud praises to God and he followed Jesus. And when the crowd saw what happened, they too erupted with shouts of praise to God.

There is a Responsibility that comes with Sight. The blind man couldn't see but he could HEAR! God can make a noise in your life that disrupts your normal. Are you willing to disrupt your own comfort and face your own fear to admit that you don't want to sit in darkness anymore? Light disrupts the Darkness, what will you do with LIGHT? God will never use what you LOST, He will always use what you have LEFT. If you don't CONFESS what you want you'll never GET what you say. The real Test of your FAITH is what you will do when you are advantaged. Are you going to sit in Darkness and Doubt or are you going to follow JESUS? The next MOVE is on you! Nothing's gonna happen until you HOLLER, until you DISRUPT your situation, until you change the atmosphere!
The beggar knew that if this man were the Messiah, he could transform his helpless situation. How desperate are you for Jesus to intervene in your circumstances?
Divine moments - Jesus is in the neighborhood
what is divine moments?
Divine moments are those moments when we sense the presence of God in our lives. They can be big or small, but they remind us that God is with us and that he cares deeply for us. Whether it's a transformation like what happened to the blind beggar in Luke 18, or simply feeling His comfort during a time of loneliness
a. A divine moment is an instance in time when God intersects our lives in a powerful, life-changing way.
These moments are unexpected, incredible, and awe-inspiring.
We all have these moments when Jesus encounters us or intervenes right when we need him to intervene.
The Encounter (Luke 18:37-40)
A. The blind beggar's plea
1. Addressing Jesus as the Son of David
- he was tired of his environment and he took the opportunity to address the son of David
I believe the blind begger was tired of his conditions of being outdoors and begging for assistance
2. Crying out for mercy and assistance
a. Entering a state of desperation, a plea for help and compassion echoes through the air. The sound of cries reverberate, reaching for any glimmer of hope and salvation. In a moment of vulnerability, a single voice resounds with the urgent need for mercy and aid. The call is fervent, a raw expression of need and despair.
This is what the blind beggar was doing . Matt 5:7 “God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
When is the last time you cried out for mercy and assistance from a loving father to step in?
