He Has Risen (2)

Colossians 2:11–15 (NASB95)

and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

Oh praise the lord this is So good

Lets look at the text and how this text relates to His Resurrection

First I want you to notice that if you have not placed your faith in Christ or if you have before you placed your trust in christ you were dead in your sin

This is why jesus said this

John 3:16–19 (NKJV)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

You apart from Christ wouldn not have been condemned you were already condemned , Dead spiritually

This is why Paul wrote this

Romans 6:23 NKJV

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The penalty of our sin is death not just a mortal death but a spiritual death, the fine in which we owe is eternal spiritual death separated from all good all mercy all hope all love a place of complete darkness filled with the worst of depression the worst of hopelessness the worst of torments and every on of us deserves this

We must not say to God I deserve this or that, no my dear child if we got what we deserve it would be the most terrible thing ever all we deserve if his holy wrath.

We who are in Christ one were dead in our trespasses those apart from christ are still dead in theirs stand condemned already

But God oh how sweet those words are

But God Oh Praise the Lord for the But God

With out the But God I would have no hope

in Ephesians it is written like this

Ephesians 2:1–10 (NKJV)

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

you were you are dead But God

If you place all your hopes your faith your trust in Him He has He Will make you alive Spiritual because of His mercy though you were his enemy He loved you

look back to colossions Having forgiven all of your transgression

Say All ............................come on All means all

There is nothing he hasn't let go If you are in Christ and are troubled by your past let it Go God has forgiven you of ALL your sin of all Your past. If you are still not there and you have been saying to yourself God will never take someone like me

I say you you my dear brother

my dear sister it say all

He forgave David of murder of adultery he forgave Paul of murder and the persecution of Gods people, He forgave peter of his denial , There is nothing God wont forgive there is nothing God does not want to forgive so give it to him today and let it go .

back in our text it says He canceled our Debt ..............................He canceled our wage of sin .............that sin that was due us our fine our penalty He canceled it He pardoned it he let it go

When he hung on that Cross and said IT is FINISHED............... THE DEBT WAS PAID YOUR DEBT WAS PAID

He NAILED IT TO the CROSS

AMEN Come on Some One say Amen.............that's something worth praising God over today

It was defeated It was finished it was cancelled it was over ........

What makes the cross special?

A Man gave his life for others so what…people act heroically everyday,,, solders on a battlefield ,,,,, body guards...... mothers or fathers ....

What makes Christ death so special ,,,, it wasn't just his death on the cross…If that was the end

Then there would be no hope

Only darkness only despair

If it all ended on the cross He would have been as good as defeated.... all hope would be lost..

Think of it this way that Friday they hung him on the cross all the hopes the dreams the desires of so many were shattered as each stripe was laid on His back

This was supposed to be their King their Messiah their deliver from Rome , their friend

He was taken a beating every stripe a little more hope was lost then they drug him to the path that led to that dreadful place of Calvary He being forced to carry our burden on his back where that cross was laid in every step toward that cross the last remaining hopes were lost they threw him down on that wretched tree Grabbed nails driving them deep , Each stoke only more despair fell upon them only more hopelessness the lifted him up until his last breath as his last breath was made the last of the hope was truly gone, many of his followers in hiding having all but given up all hope fearful discouraged not knowing what happened why things didn't happen the way they hoped

The darkest day set upon the earth it was all but over now he has closed his eyes for the last time

If the story ended there there would be no hope

But it doesn't You see three days later when Mary went to the Tomb early in the morning He Had risen He had come from the Grave The darkest of times became the greatest of Hopes

Because of the But God Who Raised Him from the dead to the the first amoungst many WE now can have a true hope that he will finish what he started

He will keep his word

he has power over even death

That as he made Christ alive he too will make us alive in Him

Let me tell you some of you are struggling some of you have about lost all hop some of you are in a deep level of depression its a dark time in your life

Look how fat God can make the worst of things and turn it into the greatest of all things

So have faith trust God wait on God it may be your Friday but your Resurrection Sunday may just be around the corner hold fast to God he will see you through

Many of us have to go through those darkest times so that we may be s=drawn closer to God so if that is you seek him cling to him let him take the burden

look at the last of our text it says

When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

He disarmed the rulers , obviously those who crucified him

But spiritually the powers in Eph 2 where it says this

according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience

He has disarmed the accuser disarmed the devil disarmed death and condemnation that we can be free from it and live freely in Him

Let us pray
