Because Jesus Rose from the Dead

Introduction:

1. Because Jesus Rose from the Dead You Have Peace with God.

If Jesus Christ did not die on the cross and rise from the dead on the third day, then there can be no peace with God.

Apart from the finished work of Christ on the cross, you and I are at war with God.

We’re sinners, and He is Holy.

We cannot stand before God as we are apart from the righteousness of Christ.

We have been justified by faith through Jesus Christ.

Dear friend, do you know what a gift it is that you have peace with God through Christ?

2. Because Jesus Rose from the Dead You Stand in Grace.

Notice the tense of the verb here. He does not say in which you “have stood” or in which you “will stand” but instead he says it is a grace in which your presently stand.

By faith in Jesus Christ, that is, that you have trusted in the promise of God, that because you have trusted in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross in your place, and then rose from the dead on the third day, your sins are now forgiven you, and you have been made right with God.

Faith means to trust in the promise of God.

You are “standing in grace” becausee you believe and understand that the whole of the Christian life is by grace. Your saver by grace, you are being conformed into the image of Christ daily by grace, and one day you will have an eternal place in glory worshipping Christ forever by grace.

You standidng before God is because of what Jesus did, not because of what you did or because of what you do. It is by grace. And in the Christian life you live and breath by the grace of God.

You don’t just need the grace of God in order to go to heaven, you need the grace of God in order to go to Walmart. You are desperatly dependent upon the grace of God for the whole of the Christian life.

And you have you’ve got the grace of God, because Jesus rose from the dead.

3. Because Jesus Rose from the Dead You Can Boast in the Hope of the Glory of God.

4. Because Jesus Rose from the Dead You Can Boast in Your Affliction.

5. Because Jesus Rose from the Dead You Have the Holy Spirit.
