Easter is coming up, in honor of Easter we are going to go through a few passages right before the Crucifixion.
Imagine someone who see’s all the evidence of God’s existence, goes to church on a regular basis, tithes, does good works etc. Is it possible that person still turns away from God, betrays him and denies the Lord?
Do you think its possible for you to be that person?
Why or why not?
When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples. So Judas, having procured a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons.
Why did Judas betray Jesus even after he witnessed the miracles?
Notice, who is it that drew his sword?
Why did Peter take his sword out?
Remember that before this Jesus said that he would be arrested and all of them would abandon him. How did Peter respond?
Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of me this night. For it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.” Peter answered him, “Though they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away.” Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the disciples said the same.
Do we all feel the same way, we would never deny Jesus would we?
