This isn't a threat or some kind of guilt trip the author of Hebrews takes us on. Instead, it is a call to devote ourselves to Jesus, His Word, and the blood bought promise He gives us. The warning though, is if we don't we will dift into dispising Jesus and His Word, which only brings discipline.
