Why are we having to rebuild? What happened?
*Pandemic
The pandemic exposed fear, lack of communication, lack of planning, and lack of youth in many churches. This can be corrected by understanding God’s perfect love; updating our systems; using our time wisely; and embracing the next generation.
*Before beginning the task of rebuilding we must first get equipped
Ephesians 4:11-12
I Strategies used by Nehemiah:
Persevere in prayer [repent: he acknowledges sin in his life; remind: he reminds God of His word; request: he asks for success and favor] Seize the opportunity [permission: the king allows him to go; provision: the king gives him the resources needed; protection: the king gives him a military escort] Don't expect what you don't inspect [destruction: he sees the reality of the walls; darkness: he can’t attract attention, he has to be discreet; donkey: he can’t go where the donkey won’t take him] Begin the build [helpers: he makes their trouble, his trouble and motivates the people to build; haters: the enemy tries to belittle him and mock God; heritage: the enemy has no portion, no legal right, and no historic claim in Jerusalem]
II Strategies used by local churches:
Practice team building [introduce team building exercises that excite and motivate your people to work together: staff, leaders, teams, groups, departments…etc] Incorporate small groups [offer small group settings that allow people to spend time with others that have similar interests] Provide training [people develop a sense of confidence when they have been trained on a task] Focus on young people [children, teens, and young adults are looking for their place in church and will provide fresh ideas] Give every leader an assistant [there should always be a prepared substitute in case of an absence; this assures that the ball is not dropped] Build new leaders [this must be a continual process] … remember the WWE Operate in excellence [putting extra, on the ordinary, can have a major impact!] Show public appreciation [remember; staff and leaders work tirelessly to make ministry excellent]
