Have You Ever Had Something You Thought was Bad Happen To You, Just to Find Out It Was A Blessing?

Crashing my Grand Am Story
In That moment I lost my car, my apartment, and my job, but it took me
onto the mission field
the next part of my journey
to my wife
and ultimately to where I am today
This moment of losing everything was God molding me into the man He wanted me to be. But, everything there in CA was holding me back and needed to be taken away.
Luke 7:36–38 NIV
When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
A couple of facts about this passage
During this time perfume was not just bought, most people did not buy this, in fact some scholars believe that only
Women did not attend banquets unless they were serving
we see that the perfume was made out of pure Nard in Mark’s account which is from India
It is thought that mostly only “women” of the night would wear this to advertise
She Was Broken

What Do We Do With Our Brokenness?

In this passage she repents and seeks Jesus
when I lost everything I followed God’s leading, But I didn’t have to, and neither did she.
When we are broken we have a choice to make
reject God
push towards God
God Works in us in the hard times
He refines us to be more like him
Zechariah 13:9 NIV
This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’ ”
But how we react to the brokenness determines how God can use us
Jonah
Ran from God, fought God the whole way and ended the story with a question mark
Jonah 4:9–11 NIV
But God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?” “It is,” he said. “And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.” But the Lord said, “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”
Elijah
Ran in his brokenness
asked to be dead
learns from his brokenness and is used powerfully by God and ends his story by going to heaven in a chariots
2 Kings 2:11 NIV
As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
