God is on The Move

The living word XIV
We are at the end of our series The living Word from the book of John, the 4th Gospel.
John wrote this gospel to bring correction to the many false teachings going around and to encourage the believers.
In the gospel of John, he showed.
Jesus as God, in human flesh.
John’s audience is the whole world.
John tells us who Jesus is.
John’s book is all about Jesus.
At the end of chapter 20 he shares the purpose of this book
Joh 20:30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.
Joh 20:31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
At the end of Mathew Jesus tells the disciples to go to a mountain in Galilee, John finishes his gospel at that mountain in Galilee with the disciples.
Mat 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
Today we are in John 21
Sometimes we find ourselves discouraged and lost especially when we don’t understand what is happening, Jesus is right here in front of us don’t miss it. He will not forsake you, believe,
God is on the move,
Let’s pray

1 He will come for you

Joh 21:1 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way:
Joh 21:2 Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
John and James the sons of Zebedee
Joh 21:3 "I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
Peter was not the guy who set around, he was waiting, they needed to eat, he was a fisherman, He said I go fishing, some believe he was done going back to his profession,
They were all experienced fisherman; they knew how to cast a net but by doing by their own initiative they got nothing.
Joh 21:4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
Joh 21:5 He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they answered.
Joh 21:6 He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
Joh 21:7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, "It is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.
Joh 21:8 The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.
Joh 21:9 When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
Joh 21:10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught."
Joh 21:11 So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
Joh 21:12 Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast."None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord.
Joh 21:13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
Joh 21:14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
Jesus came for them, to encourage and to give them direction, He will come for you.

2 Jesus shows up in the middle of our confusion, in the middle of our disappointment.

Luk 24:13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.
Luk 24:14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened.
This was in the afternoon after Jesus was raised from the dead
Luk 24:15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;
They were not looking for Jesus, he was dead and done. They were not expecting to see Jesus.
Luk 24:16 but they were kept from recognizing him.
I believe Jesus wanted to listen to their hearts, not that he didn’t know what was in their hearts, but it was important for them to hear their own hearts and thoughts, and they would be more honest if Jesus was not around.
Luk 24:17 He asked them, "What are you discussing together as you walk along?" They stood still, their faces downcast.
He could see that they were very sad.
Luk 24:18 One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?"
These two men were not from the 12 disciples circle but 2 of the 120 disciples. Eusebius of Caesarea the historian from the fourth century, believed that Cleopas was the brother of Joseph the husband of Mary, who was the mother of Jesus. Uncle Cleo. His wife was one of the women who went to visit the Tomb, with Mary, the mother of Jesus.
James, the Lesser or Younger, son of Alpheus, or Cleophas and Mary, lived in Galilee. He was the brother of the Apostle Jude.
Two of his kids were disciples of Jesus
Mary was a very common name,
When I was young, we had a made whose name was Mary, she had 8 sisters and all of them were called Mary, Mary of Grace, Mary Aparecida, Mary Fatima etc.
Luk 24:19 "What things?" he asked. "About Jesus of Nazareth," they replied. "He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.
Luk 24:20 The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him;
Luk 24:21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place.
Luk 24:22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning.
Luk 24:23 but didn't find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive.
Luk 24:24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus."
Their answer showed how frail their faith had become.
Sometimes we think is the end.
Luk 24:25 He said to them, "How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
Luk 24:26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?"
They are slow of heart to believe, then you are slow of heart to receive
We need to believe, Not just what we want to believe, but the whole scripture
Luk 24:27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
The best bible study they ever had
Luk 24:28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther.
Luk 24:29 But they urged him strongly, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them.
Luk 24:30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.
Luk 24:31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.
Is God speaking to you?
Jesus gave them their best bible study.
Luk 24:32 They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"
On May 24, 1738, John Wesley recorded in his journal, “I felt my heart strangely warmed…I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and an assurance was given me that he had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death.”
When Jesus reveals himself, hearts are set on fire
Is the same on the road of life, Jesus will not force himself on you.
Luk 24:33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together
Luk 24:34 and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon."
Luk 24:35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

3 He knows our heart. He will reveal Himself to us.

Jesus and Peter
Joh 21:15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."
Do you really believe that Jesus did not know the answer for his question?
He knew, but he wanted Peter to Know his own heart. He did the same to Adam when God asked Him Adam where are you? He knew the answer he Wanted to hear Adam’s heart, when He ask Elijah.
What Are You Doing Here? (1 Kings 19:13)
He was running and hiding from Jezebel, after seeing great miracles.
Let’s go back to Jesus’s question to Peter
Is very Important that we look the word love in the Greek here, because again is two different words translated as love but they are different.
The word love in English means many different things, but we use the same word
We love God, we love dogs, ice cream, we love our girlfriend, or boyfriend we love our mom’s.
In the Greek language is more direct and complete.
Agape is the unconditional love of God.
Phileo is brotherly love.
Eros physical love or sexual desire.
Storge is the love family has for one another, a mother’s love.
Mania obsessive love, not a good type of love is the kind of love a stalker has towards their victims.
Jesus question to peter was Do you agape me more than this, do you love me with an unconditional love as I have loved you, Peter answer I phileo you, I love you as a brother.
Joh 21:16 Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."
Do you Agape me, I Phileo you.
Joh 21:17 The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.
Jesus asked do you phileo me love me as a brother? Lord you know all things.
Peter was trying to be honest, but Jesus wanted him to understand the condition of his heart. Do you know the condition of your heart?
Joh 21:18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go."
Joh 21:19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!"
We don’t know the condition of our hearts, Do you want to love Him, follow Him.
Jesus and the Beloved Apostle
Joh 21:20 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?")
Joh 21:21 When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?"
Joh 21:22 Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me."
Don’t worry about other people our relationship and walk with Jesus is different than others, He make ask you to do certain things that He did not asked others, you follow him,
Joh 21:23 Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?"
Joh 21:24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.
Joh 21:25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
God is on the move; He is not waiting for you to come to him he is coming for you. He will show up in the middle of your confusion, He knows your heart and He will reveal himself to you.
Make Jesus the Lord of your life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
To receive Jesus, we need to accept Him as God’s son, repent from our sins and a life of selfishness, we need to ask Him to be our Lord and savior, not that you deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire today, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner,
I’m sorry for my sins,
I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
