You’ve likely heard the old expression, “There but for the grace of God go I.” As we confront the depravity of the human heart in our world, we have no grounds to boast in our own righteousness by contrast nor should we fail to imagine our own desperate plight outside the sheer grace of our God. As we resume our Exodus study, we’ll trace how scripture uses Pharaoh’s own heart as a case study in humanity’s totally depraved condition when the hope of divine rescue is refused.
