The Resurrection is the Guarantee
The Resurrection is the Guarantee
As worship is ending I’ll come up to the pulpit put the 1st slide on
SLIDE 1 “EMPTY TOMB”
SLIDE 2 “THE RESURRECTION IS THE GUARANTEE”
Talk about guarantees
There is a pretty good guarantee in this life we will sin
What is sin? Uggghhh he’s going to talk about sin, its just being hypocrite! No ones perfect, don’t preach at me!! .....right
Well what does God say it is....we can believe Him right?
SLIDE 3
Sin (harmatia) - *an offense to God
*to wander from God
* violate the law of God
* to miss the mark
* to be without a share
There is a 100% change we will all die
SLIDE 4
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—
SLIDE 5
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Now the Lord has a message for us today breaking these verses down into different parts and giving us His guarantee
I had received an email from One for Israel last week which set the topic for today’s message
Erez Soref ..........was breaking down the Passover and how special it is and its meaning ....to all people
This is where the Holy Spirit revealed today’s message and put it all together
In this video Erez starts off with these words
SLIDE 6
“Passover is the foundational feast of the Jewish People”
“In it we remember God’s lovingkindness”
“In saving His people from bondage in Egypt”
“and creating Israel as a nation”
SLIDE 7
“All that so that God Himself would dwell among His people”
“And give us His word in order to bless all nations”
That last two lines “God Himself would dwell among His people” ..... “And give us His word in order to bless all nations”
That’s when I felt the Lord hit me with “The Resurrection is the Guarantee”
SLIDE 8 “THE RESURRECTION IS THE GUARANTEE”
Holding up the Bible
All these years / over 5000 years now.....God has been giving His word
Promises for the overcoming sin entered the world and death spread to all because of sin.
A promise of His word that sin could be conquered and to journey to another place someday. His word would need a guarantee
His word would start as early as the great flood
SLIDE 9 “THE ARK AND FLOOD”
God sorry he had created man
Even then one way one door....pass through the waters....to anew place a new life....gave His word
Those who didn’t believe found themselves trying in their own strength climbing higher and higher to get above the waters and save themselves....but could not.....only God can save
Noah believed had to prepare in the midst of mockery and shaming and he was crazy, but the flood swept all away that did not enter that one door...... to a new place....... a new life
They had to believe and step into that ark
SLIDE 10 “THE ARK NOAH AND NEW PLACE”
God gave His word.......God delivered.....but Noah still needed a guarantee.......Noah and his family experienced the physical deliverance but even he needed a guarantee of an eternal deliverance
What about Abraham and his son Isaac
SLIDE 11 “ABRAHAM AND ISAAC”
They believed God, Even Isaac carrying the wood up Mt Moriah as a picture of Jesus someday carrying the cross the wood. God provided the sacrifice that day.......but even Abraham and Isaac would need to believe for a guarantee to another place
As we were just talking about the Passover and Israel.....in bondage and oppressed 400 years in Egypt.....God gave Moses and the people His word they would be delivered
SLIDE 12 “PASSOVER IN EGYPT”
They believed God and put that blood of that sacrificed lamb over their doorways, that ate that Passover meal as a family of God together
See even the Egyptian magicians and sorcerers could imitate some of the miracles and plagues that they did in front of Pharoah / Moses and the people.......but only God could promise no death that night they had to believe and trust and put the blood over their doors and the death angel passed over
Even as Israel and their deliverance from bondage in Egypt now began their journey to a new place again faced with an overtaking from behind them needed to believe in the promise of God’s word once again
SLIDE 13 “PARTING OF THE RED SEA”
Moses being a foreshadowing and a promise of Jesus to God’s people
As Pharaoh's army rapidly approaching form their backside found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and that army
Moses would holler out to the millions of God’s people, “Stand back and see the salvation of the Lord” God would put His pillar of fire to hold the enemy back
SLIDE 14 “CROSSING THE RED SEA”
As Israel would need to trust God and believe and step into those waters, pass through those water and head to a new place
A picture thousands a years ago God giving His word to them a physical resting place in Jerusalem but ultimately was spiritual picture of a heavenly dwelling place with Him eternally
And now a new promise and guarantee would come from God through the prophet Isaiah 700 years before Jesus was born
SLIDE 15
7 How lovely on the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who announces peace
And brings good news of happiness,
Who announces salvation,
And says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
SLIDE 16
8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices,
They shout joyfully together;
For they will see with their own eyes
When the Lord restores Zion.
SLIDE 17
9 Break forth, shout joyfully together,
You waste places of Jerusalem;
For the Lord has comforted His people,
He has redeemed Jerusalem.
SLIDE 18
10 The Lord has bared His holy arm
In the sight of all the nations,
That all the ends of the earth may see
The salvation of our God.
SLIDE 19
11 Depart, depart, go out from there,
Touch nothing unclean;
Go out of the midst of her, purify yourselves,
You who carry the vessels of the Lord.
SLIDE 20
12 But you will not go out in haste,
Nor will you go as fugitives;
For the Lord will go before you,
And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
See Israel has received the physical salvation and deliverance of God as they reside in Jerusalem but now needed a spiritual redemption and salvation
We would see this in the promise in God’s word through the prophet Ezekiel “will these dead bones live”
SLIDE 21 “WILL THESE BONES LIVE”
Ezekiel can these dry bones live? Oh Lord you know! You will put Your Spirit with them and they will live!
And the prophet Jeremiah
SLIDE 22
I will take their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh and write the law upon their hearts
Everything till Jesus birth was a physical deliverance and redemption and now would require a spiritual salvation from within them and then to us
That would be what is required for the journey to a new spiritual home God has prepared for us and would come with a guarantee provide by the resurrection
SLIDE 23
1 Who has believed our message?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot,
And like a root out of parched ground;
He has no stately form or majesty
That we should look upon Him,
Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.
SLIDE 24
3 He was despised and forsaken of men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
And like one from whom men hide their face
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
SLIDE 25
4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried;
Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten of God, and afflicted.
SLIDE 26
5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
SLIDE 27
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.
**JOHN THE BAPTIST***
SLIDE 28
1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,
SLIDE 29
2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
SLIDE 30
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
SLIDE 31
4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
SLIDE 32
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised;
14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.
SLIDE 33
16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised;
17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
SLIDE 34 “THE RESURRECTION IS THE GUARANTEE”
All other types of rituals and religions make for a lot of efforts and deeds but they all still end up in eternal death....there is no guarantee through a resurrection and eternal life forever
