Prisoner for the Lord

of the Calling to which you have been called

It is possible to walk in a manner unworthy
You were not just saved - you now have a calling...
This is why Paul is still writing more chapters after ch. 3!

Worthy Character v. 2

Humility

You were chosen no not by your merit
Remember you estate before Christ
Remember your destiny without His intervention

Gentleness

Caring toward others - Compassion
Bothers and sisters in the church - God’s Children

Patience

Happy to wait on God and His timing
Not forcing my timing - Thy will be done

Worthy Actions v.2b, 3

Bearing with one another in love

Patiently tolerate someone who is difficult or foolish - Baugh
We may be tempted to want to change them NOW or for them to leave -
Let God do His work in His time - like letting your children grow to maturity...
Colossians 3:12–17 ESV
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit (The Spirit’s Unity) in the bond of peace

Worthy Theology v. 4-6

One Spirit v.4

one Body
The world has a different spirit… Eph. 2: 1-3
Ephesians 2:1–3 (ESV)
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
Man is hungry for “New” Revelation....
A new apple… Same promise - God is not good to you
Progressivism...
How do you attune your heart to the Spirit? When do you hear from Him? How have you “Listened” to Him?
His Spirit testifies with my Spirit that I am a child of God
Romans 8:12–17 (ESV)
So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness (testifies) with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

One Lord Jesus v.5

One Hope
One Faith
One Baptism
There are no “kinds” of Christians (Conservative, liberal, Gay
There is no other way to God

One God v.6

Father of all
One Family
Over all, through all and in all v. 6
1 Corinthians 8:5–7 (ESV)
For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”— yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
Can you let these truths be the driving force in your life?
What you believe about God has everything to do with how your live your life
Mark 12:31 ESV
The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
