Evangelism Training

30 second videos - I will put them all in one video and send a private link by Sunday, so that you can see them (encouraged, learn, steal some ideas).
I really appreciate you all doing this.
getting closer to making official witnessing video (a couple of Sundays after church)
Reminder of reasons
something every christian should be able to do - good practice
preparation for making our official witnessing videos
Reminder - you can use additional scriptures, other ways to explain

Three Memory Scriptures

1st scripture informs the person that they are a sinner and need saving
Romans 3:23 NASB95
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
2nd Scripture informs the person what God did to give us an opportunity to be saved.
Romans 5:8 NASB95
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
3rd Scripture informs the person HOW to take advantage of this awesome opportunity.low)
Romans 10:9 NASB95
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
OTHER GOOD SALVATION SCRIPTURES
John 3:16 NASB95
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
classic - love of God, you can see that salvation is simple
Ephesians 2:8 NASB95
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
God loves us so much that he offers grace through Jesus Christ.
you receive that grace by having faith in Jesus
when we talk believe and faith and “trust in Him”
believe enough to follow
faith enough to follow
trust in him enough to follow
believe enough to commit
faith enough to commit
trust enough to commit
marriage: I love you enough, trust in you enough, have faith in you enough, believe in you enough to commit
doesn’t mean that I will be the perfect spouse, but I commit to trying to be.

Chapter 12

any opening thoughts or questions???
I have questions:
What was probably the saddest thing in chapter 12? (Gracie)
What was probably the scariest thing in chapter 12? (riot, storms)
What was one of encouraging things in chapter 12? (sailors, church, baby, hotel)
Chapter 11 recap - Hudson Taylor accepts God’s call to change from being a missionary to running a missionary society and being responsible for missionaries too.
Chapter 12 shares some of the many difficulties they faced (34 year old leading a bunch of 20 somethings)
voyage to China
4 month trip (are we there yet)
multiple storms
miraculously kept safe, no deaths or major injuries
some sailors got saved
on land
hard to find a place, places they found were rough
sometimes had homes with basically no roofs
Some inner strife within the female missionaries
The Taylors’ eight year old daughter, Gracie died
injured and almost killed by rioters stirred up by the literati
scholars, poets, painters, literate elite
miracle in finding lodging
miracle of food being provided in the nick of time
at one place, were able to enjoy nice lodgings at a Chinese hotel
miracle in not being killed by mobs
new baby born
souls were saved
church was started in one area
we able to return to area where they were almost killed and souls were saved
two lessons tonight dealing with pattersn

Lesson 1 - Pray then Preach

pray - we’ve been bringing up the importance of prayer since the beginning
by preach I mean tell people about salvation in Jesus
when making the voyage, they “prayed and waited”
praying for the salvation of the sailors
God moved, and sailors starting reaching out
they prayed and then they preached
1st example is in Acts
summarized - wait until the holy ghost does something
we He came in and they spoke in different languages - that brought out the people to hear the preaching
we must keep praying for people to get saved, join the work of the church
we had a lot of requests for unsaved loved ones this past Sunday, that’s good
keep praying! . . . then be ready to preach

Lesson 2 - Trials, Testimony, Triumph

pattern to expect when trying to do the Lord’s work: trials testimony, triumph
trials - obstacles; enemy trying to stop you
testimony - God will come through and help and strengthen, and a testimony will be the result
triumph - victory in completing the Lord’s work
Here are some examples from chapter 12
Trials - storms on the seas
testimony - no deaths or major injuries
triumph - some sailors got saved
trials - hard to finding a place to stay
testimony - got a fully furnished one just in time, also go to stay at nice hotel
triumph - church started that was self sufficient
trials - death of their daughter
testimony - simply knowing that God is with them, “never leave nor forsake them”, strength “my strength is made perfect in weakness”
triumph - they rededicated them selves into going further inland
trials - mobs trying to kill you based on lies
testimony - all lives spared, speedy recovery from injuries, peace that passeth all understanding about returning
triumph - innkeeper and two others got saved
Fleshly reaction - don’t serve the Lord and avoid the trials all together
Plain Truth - You will have trials/troubles whether you serve the Lord or not
Job 14:1 NASB95
1 “Man, who is born of woman, Is short-lived and full of turmoil.
When the storms hit the boat - unsaved people were on there as well
So since you WILL have troubles/trials/turmoil, would you rather go through trials without God or with God?
Without
fight by yourself
fight with people who are unreliable/help
with - “My help comes from the Lord”
a God who has all power, all knowledge, all wise, faithful
a God who can solve the problem, give strength, give peace
Would you like to gain a positive outcome from your trials or not
without God - you can go through trials with maybe no benefit, just suffering
with God - he will make sure that they are working for your good
Ex, go on a strict diet, challenging exercise program - with no guarantee to lose weight and gain muscles (that’s what it’s like living apart from God)
Would you rather go through trials surprised, kicking, and screaming?
Or would you rather go through trials prepared, at peace, expecting victory?
Haven’t even mentioned earthly and eternal rewards

Call to Action
pray that God will save people and send workers to WMBC
don’t be thrown off by trials, expect testimony and triumph
