The purpose of the lesson today is to share how to govern the appetites of the human body.
The Corinthian lived in a culture that believed what was done with the human body did not matter. They believed that their gods only cared about spiritual and that all thing were lawful as far as the body appetites and desire.
For example sexual encounters out side of marriage and with prostitutes were a normal part of the culture and had become a normal part of the church
1 Corinthians 6:12 KJV 1900
12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
“ All things are lawful had become a common phrase in the Corinth. This was to justify that they were save through Christ and they were not under strict but freedom and liberty.
Paul had to let them their thinking was twisted, wicked, and immoral.
They were to be free and have liberty from sin and not to sin. Romans 6:23
Romans 3:23 KJV 1900
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
1 John 2:1–2 KJV 1900
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1 John 1:9 KJV 1900
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We should not sin because we have his grace.
Story of a man on the ship that told me off and said I don’t have a heaven or hell to put him in.
Romans 6:1–2 KJV 1900
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Story of men that repented and received Christ to help them
Our love for God should lead us to honor, obey, and fear God.
John 14:15 KJV 1900
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
All thing are lawful ( you are under grace and not the law).
Romans 8:2 KJV 1900
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
However if we use our freedom to do wrong we if will not benefit, help or profit us.
Sin and immorality wants to trap us and take away our dominion, power, and purpose.
Sin wants to steal our Birthright given to us through Christ, Jesus who died for us.
Paul is inspired by the Holy Ghost to warn the believer in Corinth and us today not to be brought under any power.
1 Corinthians 6:13–14 KJV 1900
13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. 14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

What the body and is not designed to do?
1 Corinthians 6:15–18 KJV 1900
15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
