The book of 1 John is addressing to the dangerous spreading of false teachings to the saints. and warning them to walk and stay in light not to have fellowship with darkeness (1 John 1:7-8)
who wrote it?
The book of 1st John was written by John the evangelist son of Zebedee . He is also the same John who wrote is believed to write the series of 1,2 & 3rd John.
The authorship of 1 John is of no doubt that John the son of Zebedee is the author, this is because of the evidence which is John refereed himself as the eye witness in 1 John 1:1.

The audience of 1st John is the body of believers . The evidence that proves that it was written to the believers is found in (1 John 1:3-4). The scripture indicates that there was division among these believers because of The false teachings that were taught by false teachers in the church ( 1 John 2:18–19).

There is no exact date that did mention about when the book was written. But it is believed to be written in the first century A.D, because that is the period John Ba Zebedee lived.
The purpose of 1 st John was to refute false teachings that led to Docetism, in the church (1 John 2: 1-8)

The Apostle John stood his ground to refute the false doctrine spread by the false teachers. The author was also warning the believers against Antichrist (1 John 2: 15-27)
Finally, this message is also a warning to us believers to be aware of the false teachers who are busy preaching and teaching heresies in churches and on social platforms.
