WHO WROTE THIS BOOK?

to some extent of understanding, some scholars ague about who wrote the book of 1 John, but with evidences it gives a clear picture that John indeed wrote the book. for example; ‘’the eternal life that comes when we believe in Christ.’’

1 John 5:13 ESV

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.

John 3:16 ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

To be frank, John was the one who wrote this book because even from the writings of Polycarp and Clement it shows that they had it in mind that John did this work.

Therefore John wrote 1 John

the book doesn't specifically prove to show the targeted audience, but we have evidences to prove that John had believers in his mind.

John is narrowing the aspect of love and he is giving an emphasis that love comes from God .

God is Love and he is encouraging believers to live it and practice it for God is Love and He represented by sending His son to come and die for us all.
