A World Without God

Does evil exist?

The university professor challenged his students with this question. Did God create everything that exists? A student bravely replied, "Yes, he did!"

"God created everything? The professor asked.

"Yes sir", the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are then God is evil". The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?" The students snickered at the young man's question.

The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460 degrees F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."

The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil."

To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

The young man's name — Albert Einstein.

This story by Albert Einstein talks about that Evil is when God is not there.

So many times, we walk in our faith and say God will never leave us. The Bible says so. Which is true, but the bible also states that there will be a time that God is not around us, and when that time comes, what will we do? Evil exists because of the absence of God. We are going to go through what happens in the absence of God today and where does our hope lies. Let look no further than the beginning of time.

Genesis 6:11-13 “Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with wickedness. God saw how corrupt the earth was, for every creature had corrupted its way on the earth. Then God said to Noah, “I have decided to put an end to every creature, for the earth is filled with wickedness because of them; therefore I am going to destroy them along with the earth.”

Why Do we see this?

Albert Eistein say, evil exist because of the absent of God

Genesis 6:3 “And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.””

Scripture tells us, God spirit will not be with us forever

Therefore, we will see these corrupted or wickedness happening around us.

I may be not an expert in mental health, but couple weeks ago, there was a shooting in Nashville

First thing that comes to my mind

How evil can someone be to be able to walk into a school and just shoot little kids?

God has remove total restrain from that person, and allow him to truly do what his heart desire and which is evil.

The holocaust

Hitler can go down and kill a whole kind of people such as the Jews.

How does this happen?

God have remove himself from that person and that person is truly acting on what his heart desire

These are two extreme case

but look at our babies.

People always tell me kids are not evil because evil can be taught

I disagree with that because of this

Some of you guys may say, that the old testament, what about the new?

Roman 1:24 “Therefore God delivered them over in the desires of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves.”

Paul also say God will delivered them over to their desire, so that their body will degraded among themselves

Time Bound Idea:

God will eventually leave the this world to be corrupted by itself (Old testament)

God will leave the Romans to do what their heart desire (New testament)

Timeless Principal

God will one day remove his restrain and allow us to truly do what our heart desire which, is not of God

Present time application

How does all of this apply to us?

If it was up to us, we would choose what our hearts desire too. If we do not do what God wants, God will one day leave us to fed for ourselves. Some of us will give into the deepest darkest desire and act out on it. We should be happy that we can stop ourselves, we are nothing and this is all of God.

Transition

When God remove himself from us, we know the world is going to be corrupted, but what else does the Bible say God is going to do?

Genesis 6:13 “Then God said to Noah, “I have decided to put an end to every creature, for the earth is filled with wickedness because of them; therefore I am going to destroy them along with the earth.”

This is straight forward on what God is going to do

God will destroy everything in it and nothing will be left alive EXCEPT

All who is found in favor with God.

Genesis 6:8 “Noah, however, found favor with the Lord.”

Genesis 18:32 (CSB)

Then he said, “Let my lord not be angry, and I will speak one more time. Suppose ten are found there?”

He answered, “I will not destroy it on account of ten.”

Abraham Plead for Sodom and Gomorrah

This town was very sinful and lived in sin everyday

God fulfill his promise here as he say in Genesis 6:13 - He will destroyed everything.

The end of this story ends up with only LOT out of the town. Even his wife was destroyed in the act of God here.

Time Bound Idea:

God Flooded the world

God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah

But save those that were favored

Timeless Principal

God will destroy all that is sinful, but will save those that are found in his favored

Present time application

How does all of this apply to us?

God will destroy any church that continue to sin and make it all about them. God will reveal the darkest thing such as all these mega church that are coming out with all these harassment cases. They looked good on the outside, but God will be forth what is truly there and destroy it, but God will save those that remain faithful to him.

Conclusion

Even though we see that God will remove himself from everything here, and allow hell break loose on this world, and then destroyed it, it shows us confidence that we should have in our Lord. We know that God is Sovereign.

IF we are found in favor of God,

If we remain faithful until the end of time

God will protect us and save us from any kind of destructions.

So let ask ourselves,

are we found in favor?

does the thing we do all for God?

Are we faithful?

When no one wants to do it? are we like Isiah and and say Lord, here I am, what do you want me to do?

Do we desire God?

Is God what we want?
