The Thorn by Martha Snell Nicholson
I stood a mendicant of God before His royal throne And begged him for one priceless gift, which I could call my own. I took the gift from out His hand, but as I would depart I cried, “But Lord this is a thorn and it has pierced my heart. This is a strange, a hurtful gift, which Thou hast given me.” He said, “My child, I give good gifts and gave My best to thee.” I took it home and though at first the cruel thorn hurt sore, As long years passed I learned at last to love it more and more. I learned He never gives a thorn without this added grace, He takes the thorn to pin aside the veil which hides His face.

Cry out to Jesus! And continue to cry out until you have what you need!

Set the Scene:
Jericho An ancient city located approximately 10 miles northwest of the Dead Sea
and a resultant oasiscity of the palm trees,Judg 3:13), which contributed to its long periods of occupation.

Jericho is primarily known for its famous walls which “tumbled down” in Josh 6 at the blast of the horn and the sound of the Israelite battle cry.

V. 48 Cry out to Jesus Regardless of the opposition.

If you begin to be rebuked for crying out Keep cry out!
It is not our emotions or our felt needs that make Jesus and His Word true. It is True and He is true. You cannot rationalize it all the time. You cannot reason with why God allows things to happen to us.
Family
Friends
Children
Self Opposition-
God doesn't hear me. He left me. He doesn't Love me. He doesn't care about me.
Bartimaeus is not Crying out to Jesus saying why am I blind! Why have you made me this way! Why did you let this happen to me! I dont deserve this.
Do not allow the opposition of your humble and fervent request hinder your faith in Jesus. D

V.49 Cry out to Jesus and be ready when He calls out to you!

He through off his cloak the his most prized possession. His protection and comfort. The outer garment.
He Jumped up. He leap. Came to Jesus.
He couldn't see Yet. He didn't have want he wanted yet. But Out of Faith in Who Jesus was He left all he had and ran to the voice of Jesus.

V.51-52 Cry out to Jesus and He will give you what you need.

Jesus knew what he wanted he know he was blind.
He knew what he needed.
Jesus wants you to specify what we want from him and if is what we need He will give it to us.
Bartimaeus didn't say he wanted money to stop begging. He didn't say he doesn't deserve to be there. His hart was not full of pride. He didn't think he deserved something because of His boldness or even his knowledge of who he was.

12 “I was traveling to Damascus under these circumstances with authority and a commission from the chief priests. 13 King Agrippa, while on the road at midday, I saw a light from heaven brighter than the sun, shining around me and those traveling with me. 14 We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice speaking to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

15 “I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’

“And the Lord replied, ‘I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. 16 But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. 17 I will rescue you from your people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
