Biblical Stewardship

Luke 19:12–26 (KJV)
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. 13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

OCCUPY A term used by the RSV in three different senses: (1) “engage someone’s energy or attention”

(2) “take possession of” (Heb yāraš [Nu. 13:30; Dt. 2:31; 3:20; AV “possess,” “inherit”])

The AV uses “occupy” several times in the obsolete sense of “trade.”

In Lk. 19:13 “occupy” translates Gk pragmateúomai (RSV “trade with”).

Luke 19:13 TPT
13 Before he departed he summoned his ten servants together and said, ‘I am entrusting each of you with fifty thousand dollars to trade with while I am away. Invest it and put the money to work until I return.’
Put the Money to work
It can take a regular Kingdom Citizen several years to realize, that money is a resource God gives us to help finance the Kingdom.
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
1. Upon His return to his kingdom he called for his servants. (why do you believe he did this) (How does this relate to the return of Christ?)
Matthew 12:36 TPT
36 You can be sure of this: when the day of judgment comes, everyone will be held accountable for every careless word he has spoken.
2. He is going to call those he has given something first.
Luke 12:48 KJV
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
3.) He wants to know what we gained with what he has given us.
what are some things we can assume we will be held to an account with Christ?
That’s his Money, his family, his health, his relationships, his Mind & His Souls
That baby should become a Kingdom Citizen.
Malachi 2:15 NLT
15 Didn’t the Lord make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth.
3 John 2 KJV
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
How many pounds did her end up having?
17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
Matthew 25:23 (KJV)
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
When ever you see a person with more than the average Christian, take note of what they must have been faithful over.
one got 10 cities the other got 5 cities.
what will being Faithful over prayer produce?, what will being faithful over Studying the word of God produce, what will being faithful over saving the lost souls produce.
20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
Bra man kept it in a napkin
21 For I feared 5, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
Fear is the number one reason why we bury gifts
Lets talk about the napkin Ministry shall we?
I wonder how many buried gifts we have among us?
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
what advice would you give a believer to over come the spirt of fear?
22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
The one that got the most it getting some more.
Why?
25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) 26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
