I’ve always been fascinated & encouraged with the U.S. dime with its bold statement of faith - IN GOD WE TRUST!Wow! A confessional nation! It’s straight out of the Bible! What a great testimony! A nation whose leaders place their trust & hope in Almighty God! Surely it will be blessed & enabled to face its challenges with peace & calmness!
That is what James is presenting to his scattered congregations of believers - with God walking by your side, the trials of life can be endured with joy, even pure joy. They had their share of trials - they were refugees in strange towns, had no friends, had to seek some form of labour to keep the wolf from the door & had to look for a roof over their heads. They were times of great anxiety & worry - challenges to their knowledge of God!
This morning the sermon is concerned about your personal knowledge of God. Like James, if you have a God of greatness & goodness, One in whom you can put your trust, then the trials of life can be endured.
