Introduction

Whatever it took, you had make your way to the other side. You had everything going against you. You were close to danger and couldn’t see it. You were listening for your friend amongst the chaos. Like I stated at the beginning, whatever you do, get to the other side to be with your friend.
Colossians 3:23-25 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.”
This passage shares a similar task for Christians. Paul is writing to a church, just like we are a church. He is talking about family member’s roles in the home. The section we are talking about are servants or slaves.
Did you know that we are considered servants to Christ ? 1 Tim 4:6 “If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.”
In ancient times, slaves were purchased or born into a slave family and served the master until they died or until the master decided to free them. Some slaves had developed such a close and loving relationship with the master’s family that they wanted to continue serving, even when they could go free. That’s the idea Paul and others were conveying when they referred to themselves as servants of Christ. The Lord has bought us with a high price, and those who come to know Him desire to abandon all rights to Him and choose to serve Him faithfully.
As Christians we are slaves to Jesus, abandoning all rights to Jesus, choosing to follow Him
Now that we know who Paul is talking about, what is the message? In the shortest way possible, the message is “Do it for the Lord!”

Who are you doing it for?

Think back to the things we listed off, who do you do them for?
For the team
To win
Have fun with family or friends
Remember in our game where your friend had to guide you through the course, who were they doing that for? They were doing it for the blindfolded friend.
The same idea is for us as Christians. Everything we do should be to honor Christ.
Maybe you’re thinking, “How can I remember to do it for Jesus when I’m in the middle of doing it?” Sometimes our mind gets pretty busy when it comes to thinking about what we’re doing. How you can prepare your mind to answer “who you’re doing it for” is by at the start of the day and before a specific event/activity and ask God, “Help to honor you during this time and be a witness for you!”

Why are you Doing it?

This is the final question for you! Everything that is in your personal life, family life, friend life, church life, all of it. Why are you doing it?
Keychain — Example of answering the why
In all of these area you have to ask yourself, is it honoring to God? There may be some areas where you can’t honor God, because it is a sin. There are other areas where you need to stop and consider why you are doing it. If it is not honoring God, then what can you do change that?
I think you need to start with prayer, and ask God to fill you with a desire to honor Him in everything you do. Then ask God to show you ways you can honor Him in the different areas of your life. (Refer back to Point 1; Subpoint 3 for more).
