Greetings

Grace, Mercy, and Peace be multiplied unto you from God our Father, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I bring you greetings all the way from Indianapolis, Indiana on the other side of an 10-hour drive, so I came to have some Church today is that alright. So while we can, will somebody open up your mouth and give God some glory right there. If he has been good to you… if he has done anything for you… you ought to give God glory. Amen.

Remarks

Listen. I am here to support my best friend and colaborer in the gospel, John Carry Easterling III. I met John a little under 7 years ago in one of the classes we shared together during our undergraduate years at UNC Greensboro. Even then, he exhibited an uncanny affinity for leadership and conviction of faith. And, I dare say, we bonded over our shared love of comedy, for God’s Church, and for God’s people. Amen. We have been friends since and I am so glad to have been here throughout the years and would rather be nowhere else today. Amen.

Offertory Appeal

Now listen. I am up here to raise an offering in honor of the occasion. So with that in mind, I need 70 people to stand with $1,000. I am not coming down to your number but I need you all to stand in agreement with this moment. You should see the look on some of you all’s faces right now.
But no really, I believe this is a time that we should give into the life of this man of God as he begins this new phase of his ministry. I am reminded of the scripture, Luke 6:38 “38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
I believe this scripture tells us that through our giving we can put ourselves in a position to be on the receiving end of that giving. That said, I believe that today is a day that we can honor, appreciate, and support the man of God through our giving. For the scripture is clear that MEN shall give into the bosom and today is our day to be those men. Amen.
I am sowing $100 into this moment, in support of the Man of God. I am asking, all of those that will to stand with me in sowing $100 into this man. I am looking, especially at the Pastors and preachers in this building. You have been in this man’s place and know the challenge of pastoral ministry, and I encourage you to put your money where your mouth is and support the man of God, is that alright. You may say, preacher, I do not have $100 all I have is $250, I encourage you to stand with me as we seek to get behind the preacher. Perhaps you do not have $100, I encourage you all to stand with your best gift… whatever it may be. $50, $40, $20… we encourage your liberal giving.
