How healthy is our church community when it is measured independently by the Lord Himself? Perhaps we would open such a letter with trembling fingers knowing there is nothing Jesus does not know. He sees right through us and from Him nothing can be hidden. Perhaps we may have a view of ourselves as a congregation that has us opening such a letter with eagerness, thinking we have got things pretty well in good order and have nothing of which to be ashamed. In the book of Revelation we find in chapters 2 and 3 a total of seven letters Christ wrote to seven churches for whom the book was first intended. These letters were meant not just for the churches themselves, but also for the Church of all time, including us today.. “He who has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Rev 3:22).
