Flight is the Only Sane Response
Flight is the Only Sane Response
Leaders choose daily, but the real weight on their shoulders lies in the need to decide.
And there are no easy decisions.
To decide requires death—a dying to a thousand options.
the putting aside of a legion of possibilities in order to choose just one.
De-Cide / Homo-cide / Sui-cide / Patri-cide. The rott word here means to “CUT OFF”
And with this means what? Everyone wont be happy or agree with what you decide, or with the path you choose to take. Whatever choice that is made it will bless one and alienate the other. Child just started college, Parents decides to help that child, while it also hurt the others because it could put off the family vacations, of feel they are getting the short end.
The truth is this… A good leader will, in time, disappoint everyone. (you/me)
Leadership -
Is not about problems and decisions, it is a profoundly relational enterprise that seeks to motivate people towards a vison that will require significant chage and risk on everyone's part. Decisions are simply doors that leaders, as well as followers, walk through to get to the land where redemption can be found.
As John Maxwell also says, “A leader knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” The power of leadership is the power to influence and motivate people to change, grow and achieve common goals.
Some people don't want to be leaders or out front, but they always find themselves in that spot. You know you planned on doing and being something else but somehow it led you to a position you thought someone else would be a better fit.
Others know they are supposed to be there, but go through a crisis of confidence, and regret even saying yes to the call.
DOUBT IS THE CONTEXT FOR SURRENDER
And FLight is the Path for Obedience.
Reluctant leaders are ripe for growth as leaders.
You hear the call to lead but go the opposite direction. God has a way of having us thrown off a boat, swallowed by a large fish, and spit onto the shore where we are to serve.
God invites us to run / and yet to know that he will arrive at your place of flight / before we arrive/ so he can direct our steps again.
Maybe you doubt this is true, or you hope it might be diferent for you, but bibilcal data supports my assumption my often than not.
God seems to chose runners.
God seem to choose leaders who dont want to serve, and when they do follow God’s call, they often do so in a way that created new chaos.
Abraham was a liar and a coward
isaac - least troubled out the three but lived with a memory of his father putting a knife in his throat, and his wife tricked the hold house, oh yeah Jacob the ultiamte trickster and self serving caused chaos every where he went.
Moses had convo with God at the burning bush and was reluctant and yet 2nd guessed god command that he return to egypt to free his people.
