2 Cor. 5:20
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
We are to be ambassadors for Christ...
Ambassadors for Christ…
Have you ever heard someone say, “I was hurt by someone who claimed to be a Christian.” or I stopped going to church because of the people said or did this to me there.
Are you one of the people who have been hurt by a Christian?..
Are you someone who has hurt a non-believer by your words, actions or behavior?
As Ambassadors, we represent the kingdom of God to a world of sin and death. As such, the greatest challenge that we face is overcoming our own sinful nature and taking on the image of the Kingdom of God. Many times our sinful nature destroys our ability to be an Ambassador.
The role of an Ambassador is to represent the Kingdom from which they came. They bring a message from their kingdom to another. At all times, the actions of the Ambassador represents the kingdom they come from. Their actions represents the message that they bring from their kingdom as much as their words.
Our role as an ambassador is no different we have a message to bring to the world around us. It is a message of love and hope. Our message is that our God has reconciled us to His kingdom and desires to reconcile the world to Him as well.
Our message gets destroyed when do not act in accordance to the message. We can tell the world that we bring a message of love, hope and mercy all day, but our words must be followed by our actions.
We cannot bring a message of love and follow that with hateful speech, self-righteousness or violence.
We cannot bring a message of hope but live in constant doubt that God will provide.
We cannot bring a message of mercy but wish destruction upon the people of this world.
As Ambassadors of Christ, we must stay true to the message of Christ. God loved us when we were yet sinners. In the same way, we must love those in this world regardless of their sin. God has promised to provide for us and we must trust His promises. God has given us forgiveness for our sins and we must forgive those of the world, regardless of their sins.
These are not easy tasks. But it is our task as Ambassadors to act in accordance of Him who sent us and His message. Paul says to be reconciled to Him in this. We must be reconciled to the kingdom from which we came. Our words and actions must always reflect Christ and the kingdom of God, so that others can see and hear Him who calls the world to be reconciled in His love.
