Is there anybody else in the house today, that knows our Saviour is able. Only thing He is not able to do is to fail and lie. Our God is able so able. Now let’s make this personal, we are able because He is able (repeat) I hear you Paul, Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. My God is able. talk, preach, when i am sick, he is able........
And before we jump in our scripture today, I pray that have some folks in here that have opened their bible from time to time and truly know about God’s ability but just in you haven’t in awhile, let me help you out.
Talk to me Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, Daniel 3:17 “If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.” He is able to do more than me could ever imagine, Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” Our God is so able.
This text today should offer the true believer some security. This text should lead the believer to the source of the believers security. What is the source of the believers security? Who is it that keeps the believer secure while they walk upon the earth? It is God and God alone. In my studying they called it God’s keeping power. talk, preach…he’s able to keep you from all hurt, harm and danger but we think that we........
Look back in the day, I was a decent athlete.I could hold my own on some things. But some time has elapsed but there are times that my mind tells me you can do it. But then my body trys to warn me and says, you better not listen to you mind because otherwise you will be hurting. Well I try it and and next thing you know these old knees or ankles are kicking…I am not able to do some of things I use to do. But with God’s help, I am able to get things done. How am I able? He leads me to the person to call to get some help. You know God has given us some common sense and some wisdom and some knowledge and all of that tells me to let Him lead me the right way. I consult God on everything. talk....
As we prepare to look at our text for the day let’s take a look at the author Jude. Jude 1 “Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:” He identifies himself in in verse as the brother of James and that also makes him the half brother of Jesus, Matthew 13:55 “Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?” It is dated to have been written between 67-90 A.D. And look to whom it is written, Jude 1 “Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:” Do we have any called and sanctified people of God in here today? Do you know that you are preserved in Jesus Christ? talk..
Jude wrote is letter to believers. To help them and remind them to contend for faith. Jude 3 “Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” . For them to stay faithful because there were those out there using the gospel the wrong way. v4. And then he reminds them of the false teachers and the history of the people of God. V4-16. And next he exhorts the believers to stay with God and to help others come to God V17-23.
Then we come to the end of his letter... his doxology, a short hymn or verse in Christian worship that praises God, often added to the end of canticles, psalms, and hymns, comes from the Greek words for "glory" and "saying . So Jude has helped the believer with the previous text and now it is time to praise God. But in praising Him, Jude helps us more then he could have realized. Jude has shown us and let us know that God is able. He shows us that we need to praise Him because He is able and when he is able, what he is able of doing, and why he does it. (repeat).
Let’s walk shall we.... read v24.....so all agree that our Saviour is able but Jude lets us know that He is able, and that he is able NOW and that we should praise Him because He is able.. look at the firs part there, NOW UNTO HIM....the word now has a dual meaning here.....yes this a conjuctive word that connects but also by definition it means in present time....and that is what we need to realize to today, is that God is able right now and we should be praising Him right now.…TALK, PREACH.......stop trying to put limitations on Him. Yes he was able yesterday and i thank HIm for yesterday, and I know that if he allows me to see tomorrow, he will still be able, but scripture tells us over in Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” ....so with that is going on in life, I just need to know that right now, My God is able…talk, preach.....
What is God able of doing? First to KEEP YOU FROM STUMBLING, Jude’s message of warning and doom might have depressed and discouraged his readers. Perhaps his original readers thought that with so much false teaching and immorality around, very few Christians would ever reach heaven. Here he reminds them that the answer lies only in the power of God. He is able to keep you, and you aren’t able to keep yourself. God alone has the power to keep us from falling in a world that has so much corruption and false teaching. But for God to keep us, we must draw near to him and stay in touch with him. How? Thru the study of His word, thru prayer. By learning to walk moment by moment in constant fellowship with Him. I Tell New Hope all the time, apart from Christ we are nothing. We will fall, when we are apart from him. We will constantly fall into sin. talk, preach....
And while he keeps us from falling or stumbling, he is able to clean us up so we can be presented faultless....Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.”....Praise His name that He made a way to clean us up, and if you stay with me for a few more minutes I will tell you how, but right now He is able to clean you up,
Why does He do it? Because one day we have to stand before Him, the righteous judge. We have to be in his presence. Of His glory. When we are clean and in his presence , than can He accept us without any defilement. Accept us and count our faith as righteousness. 1 Corinthians 15:50 “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.” ....so we have to make our soul is clean…because when we get in His presence it will be with exceeding joy…then I can say this joy, that I have....talk, preach...
Our Saviour is able right now, to keep you from falling and to clean us up so we can stand before his presence of Glory and feel that joy that only He can give u “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.” ....so we have to get our soul clean…because the only way we can we get in His presence we have to be clean and when those gates open it will be with exceeding joy…then I can say this joy, that I have....talk, preach..
Now we see God is able right now, to keep us from falling and to clean us up so we can be in His presence of His Glory and then to fill that joy that only he can give. To know it started over 2000 yrs ago.....preach, close....
