As young people, it's easy to focus on our own desires and needs. But as Christians, we are called to have a healthy fear of God, to honor Him and follow His ways. The fear of God is not a fear of punishment, but rather a reverence for His power, authority, and wisdom.
In Proverbs 1:7, it says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction." This verse reminds us that the fear of God is the foundation of true knowledge and wisdom. We cannot fully understand the depth of God's love and grace without first recognizing His holiness and power.
But what does it mean to fear God in our everyday lives? It means seeking His will above our own, obeying His commands, and respecting His boundaries. It means acknowledging that He is the creator and sustainer of all things, and living in awe of His majesty.
In Psalm 111:10, it says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever." This verse reminds us that the fear of God leads to true wisdom and understanding. When we fear God, we are not afraid of Him, but rather we trust in His goodness and love for us.
As young people, it's easy to get caught up in the distractions of the world and forget about the importance of a healthy fear of God. But we must remember that fearing God is not about being afraid of Him, but rather about respecting His authority and living in obedience to His will.
In Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, it says, "The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil." This verse reminds us that fearing God and obeying His commands is our primary duty as human beings. And we must always remember that God sees everything, and He will hold us accountable for our actions.
So, let us embrace a healthy fear of God and strive to live our lives in obedience to His will. Let us remember that God is not only our creator, but also our redeemer, who loves us unconditionally and desires the best for us.
