We celebrate Imani / Faith
This is a time to look within and above to strive for a higher level of spirituality and a better life for ourselves and for those around us.
Imani, faith, is the profound belief in and commitment to all that is of value to us as a family, community, people and culture.
My Faith is the foundation on which my life is built upon…
Faith: complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
There is a parable that states…
Matthew 7:24–27 ESV
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Imani is a time to reflect on what I value in my life.
Words have power!
They said that sticks and stones......
What I allow into my space through words could push me or destroy me.
What I speak out to others can have the same affect.
This is why I have value “Wisdom”
Wisdom: The quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.
- The soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment.
I have to realize that the source of my wisdom will determine the foundation of my house…
The parable said…
Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them…
“These words” - of wisdom
These words affects how I:
love
Give
Serve
Parent
Forgive
Steward my time / money / talents
Friendships
Healthy partnerships
A healthy perspective
I have to surround myself by positive words of wisdom and correction!
I can’t just sounded myself but I have to believe in theses words of wisdom.
We have to act upon the words of wisdom…
1) The rain fell
2) The floods came
3) The winds blew
and beat on the house…
The house did’t fall because it was built on the rock (On words of wisdom)
“And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.”
1) The rain fell
2) The floods came
3) The winds blew
and beat on the house…
But great was the fall of this house!
It fell because they didn’t have faith in wisdom…
