Praise Brings Joy to Our Prayers - Psalm 100:1-2

Psalm 100:1–2 NIV
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

When we are in God’s presence, it should always be a joyful time - Psalm 16:11

Psalm 16:11 NIV
You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Our belief in God leads to inexpressible joy - 1 Peter 1:8-9

1 Peter 1:8–9 NIV
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Praise Establishes the Realities of Our Relationship to God - Psalm 100:3

Psalm 100:3 NIV
Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Two images of our relationship with God:
Creator - Created. The one who designed us, understands everything about us.
Shepherd - Sheep. The one who provides for us, cares most about us.
Psalm 95:6–7 NIV
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice,

Praise and Thanksgiving - Psalm 100:4

Psalm 100:4 NIV
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

Praise acknowledges the character of God

Thanksgiving remembers the actions of God - Colossians 3:16-17

Colossians 3:16–17 NIV
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Not only is God great, but He has done great things!

Praise and Thanksgiving are our natural response - Psalm 150

Psalm 150:1–6 NIV
Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

God’s character is enduring - Psalm 100:5

Psalm 100:5 NIV
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
God is Good
God’s Love Endures Forever
God’s Faithfulness continues for generations
Hebrews 13:15 NIV
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.
